ARMA 3, the latest installment of the tactical military simulation game from independent developers Bohemia Interactive, creators of the award-winning mil-sim series Arma.

Storyline:

Survive, Adapt, Win
After years of intense warfare against Eastern armies, Europe has become the last stand for the battered NATO forces. On the verge of being driven into the sea, NATO command embarks upon a most desperate measure. In the hope of seizing what seems to be a well-guarded military secret, Operation Magnitude is launched. A small group of Special Forces and Researchers are sent to a Mediterranean island deep behind enemy lines. However, the mission is compromised and the task force destroyed, leaving Cpt. Scott Miller washed ashore upon the hostile island. In his effort to carry out the mission, he will face the dangers of modern warfare, an unforgiving environment, and the consequences of his own decisions...

  • Survive in the rich & authentic environment
  • Adapt to the unsurpassed experience of modern ground combat
  • Win the open-ended & story-driven campaign

Combining the strength of its predecessors with radical engine improvements, Arma 3 provides a unique experience of sandbox-oriented combat gameplay in the most detailed environment of the series.

Key features:

  • Single-Player Campaign - evolve from a lone prey into a military commander in the open-ended & story-driven campaign.

Modders Logbook - April 2015

Greetings!

Im a bit late writing this post and unfortunately I don't have much to report. April saw the all time low mod progress as there just was not enough time for modding.

We did manage to revise the structure creation script we use to build and manage large structures from multiple parts and got rid of the attachto script as a necessity, as it unfortunately breaks the physX component with the objects that are attached to something.

This however is a problem no more and we can continue to develop the building management and control system.

I think all progress we've made has something to do with mapping and map assets as I've been working to flesh out the city structures and I uploaded some screenshots for you to enjoy!

City Structures WIP updateCity Structures WIP update
City Structures WIP update

The empty superstructure of the walls will be filled with generated content from a pool of infrastructure assets and there will be multitude of "rooms" with different functions like storages, garages, offices, military and medical facilities, habitats and whatever we come up with. The same goes with the other buildings although different districts will be more focused on certain types of structure assets.

Our aim is to make all the randomized buildings accessible and destructible to make the environment interesting and dynamically changing to challenge players to explore it again and again on their search for the Dragon.

Heres also a little video log where I give a bit more closer tour on the new structures!

Onwards we go!

Hey, I've recently watched a lot of vids of Arma 3 and all I can say is that my previous statement about this game was totally wrong.

Fortunately, the devs actually improved gameplay and mechanics, rather than downgrade them as I feared. ARMA is still ARMA and right now this is the game I'm waiting for.

Hell, the new ballistic with bullets reacting differently depending on the surface they hit is just awesome! (And for those who don't know about it, just watch this: Youtube.com
It's in French but the footage at 7:45 is rather explicit...)

As for how it will run I just changed my system to a AMD A10 58800K based system and ArmA 3 runs great. Now I can't run it on Ultra settings but it is smoother as butter and looks great even on Standard settings. If you are like me on a budget (I spent 350.00 plus taxes on this system) and it is playing everything i want to play.Hit me up and i'll list parts if wanted. Also Arma 3 just runs 100x better than ArmA 2 runs out of the box even as an alpha build.

One of the best games I've played in 2013. Just wish they would optimise it some more.

... I can't help but see BattleField III and COD elements fused into the game. Which, is very disappointing, because ARMA is the one game that was DIFFERENT- it was meant to be a hardcore tactical shooter. And the Steam only doesn't help.

Time will tell, I guess.

Awesome, much better game over it's predecessors :) Edited: 14.11.2014. Wow, the BIS has becomed a gamers dream company. When you complaing about bugs, they actually fix it, plus they allow you to use MODS and LAN gaming. That's not all, then even keep updating game with new features. Hands down, the BIS and their ARMA III are the best thing that can happend to a gamer. Down side: - AI is dumb and super accurate. - Chances of memory leak. - Game still costs ~44€. But because BIS listens and works…
