Areum will be a 2D top-down medieval fantasy MMORPG. We want the game to be like playing a multiplayer version of classic RPGs such as Lufia, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, etc. Movement will be tiled based, but everything will be real-time rather than turn based. This includes battles, so there won't be a separate battle screen.

That's about as much as we know at the moment :) We are currently at the start of pre-production, so there are infinite possibilities at the moment; a lot of different ideas are being prototyped. We occasionally livestream as we work on the game. When we're live, drop on in and say "hi" :)

After over a year of inactivity, we are finally back! Thank you for waiting, and our apologies for taking so long.

We have decided to switch the game over to ActionScript3, which means it can be played in your web browser using the Adobe Flash Player! There is no demo at the moment, but we'll let you guys know as soon as you can try it out.

This is our 4th day of pre-production, and so far things are going quite well. I've decided to startup a livestream as we work on the game, so if you want to watch it progress in real time please tune in using the widget below :)  If you want to join in the chatroom, head on over to and register/login to your account if you haven't already. I really enjoy all the games by ifthensoftware, starting with loradon. My only real complaint is how their games are always left hanging, usually right when they begin to get really good, just for a whole new game to start. Personally I'd really love to see Volund go somewheres. Will this game be any different, or will it just stay in developing forever, for a new project to take it's place?

There likely won't be a paperdoll system, at least not to start with. There will be armor and weapons, and probably also different looking characters. Combat won't be based on an auto attack; you will have to tell your character to make each swing. The keyboard will be used for the most part. It will be similar to one of our other games, Volund, which you can checkout here:
