I have a bit of a dilemma with this tank. It's based on an older model, wherein I tried to re-imagine what an Overlord or Mammoth Tank may look like, as a result it does resemble those tanks quite a bit.

Do you guys and gals think it's too reminiscent of its CnC-ancestors, or is it distinct enough to be its own tank?

You should change it a bit, because it really, REALLY looks like the Overlord.

Some of the features I did differently from the Overlord, is having differently sized tracks, instead of equally sized tracks, and I moved the turret's rotation point to the back.

Some changes I thought of is lengthening the turret somewhat towards the back, as well as stretching the gun mantlet a bit forward. The front of the turret might be the hardest thing to change, and adding more ERA panels around the tank in its upgraded state.

Your game, your choice, all I'm saying is that the two tanks are very alike.

It looks like a hybrid between the Mammoth from Tiberium Wars and the Overlord but distinct enough to be its own tank, that's my opinion.

Characters - or in this case units - are not copyright protected if you 1) make all the stuff on your own 2) if you give them unique features and at least a slightly different look. So in case that was your concern, you should be fine. ;)

As long as it has four separate tracks and twin cannons, with the double antennas at the back, it will look like a mammoth. My suggestion is that you change the general silhouette, maybe make a more plow-shaped front, like on an IS-3? Or give it two tracks at the rear and a single wide one at the front? I dunno. There are so many designs in this game where the inspiration is just too obvious.

It seems to resemble the Overlord more than the mammoth due to the turret design alone, in my opinion. The trapezoidal shape may need to change to not resemble the tank, but if EA don't complain then tank is ok.

I say just stick with it.

if there can be mobile games that are basically direct copies of RA2, I don't see why a single similar looking tank would be a problem :P

Eh. "Twin-barreled heavy tank" is only going to have so many variations. You'll probably be fine as long as you don't add a bunker upgrade.

Well, i honestly can't see the mammoth tank, it may be because the overlord itself was already inspired by it, but the general design, the cannon placement and having a gattling gun instead of rocket pods just screams Overlord to me.

I would suggest moving the cannons more to the center of the turret, another thing would make the top-view shape more square vs rectangular. But i am just throwing ideas at this point.

Description

Armed with twin 280mm Electrothermal-Chemical cannons, a 35mm rotary cannon, and a coaxial turret with twin 20mm rotary cannons, nothing stands in the Wotan's way. Not for long, at least.

The downside of this tremendous firepower is a lack of mobility compared to main battle tanks.
