Aporia is an open world adventure game (1st person) that focus on Environmental Storytelling, Puzzles & Exploration. Aporia is up the same alley as Dear Esther, Journey, Myst, and Amnesia but focus only on Environmental Storytelling. That means it tells a story without using character interaction, text, or dialogue. But instead, we use paintings, objects and other environmental features.
You wake up feeling dazed on windswept mountain path leading to a misty forest. As the sun sets you stagger forwards with the feeling that someone is watching you. Seeking shelter from a cold but light downpour, you enter a cave and come upon a vial with glowing liquid on a rock, almost as if on display. As you exit the cave, you make your way through the undergrowth, and stumble upon another relic. As you pick it up, the faint glow from your vial displays a projected drawing.
Using only your wits, a keen eye and a great deal of caution, you may discover what happened in this misty forest, what happened to yourself, and then maybe, just maybe, find an escape out of this strange and eerily haunted place.
You need to find your missing baby girl, which is being held in a huge underground temple below the forest. You will need to gather 4 pieces of a pyramid, which when combined is a secret key to access the temple. In each area, you find puzzles, which must be solved in order to obtain the pieces of a broken pyramid.
You are suffering from a mental condition which will make you loose your mind over time. However, the decease can be held back by consuming a certain type of flower found in the forest. On your way, you collect pieces of story information that can be projected onto the walls using your vial, which tells the story about what happened and who you are. However, an ominous dark shadow lurks in the forest, and if it sees you, it will start hunting you. If it catches you...
Aporia is created in the newest version of Cryengine. The game is graphically heavy and it will require a decent graphics card - especially in this early state. We do not have exact requirements, but you should be able to run it on a standard gaming desktop, not older than three years old (around HD7850 or GTX 470 and above). To run it smoothly, we recommend having a GTX 960 or a Radeon R9 290 or higher.
Since it is an early alpha version, there will be bugs, frame-drops and inconsistencies, so please report to us if you find any, and let us hear general feedback of your game experience. Then you can help us improve the game greatly .
The game as it stands is a collection of interconnected secrets. Uncover them all, and get a glimpse of what is to come!
Remember, this alpha version of Aporia will be a hard game to complete. Don't expect to complete it the first time you play. Use your mind and have patience. If you are having trouble memorizing the controls during the game, go check them out in settings.
