The single scariest experience of my life was playing through Amnesia. From start to finish, it was expertly composed with amazing sound effects and an atmosphere like no other. My only complaint is that occasionally some of the puzzles seem to take too long and start to detract from the creepiness of the game, but that is a personal complaint and thus does not affect the rating.
If you haven't already, buy this game, plug in your headphones and turn out the lights (essential to play it right), and get ready to remember.
