The last remaining memories fade away into darkness. Your mind is a mess and only a feeling of being hunted remains. You must escape.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent, a first person survival horror. A game about immersion, discovery and living through a nightmare. An experience that will chill you to the core. You stumble through the narrow corridors as the distant cry is heard. It is getting closer.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent puts you in the shoes of Daniel as he wakes up in a desolate castle, barely remembering anything about his past. Exploring the eerie pathways, you must also take part of Daniel's troubled memories. The horror does not only come from the outside, but from the inside as well. A disturbing odyssey into the dark corners of the human mind awaits. A sound of dragging feet? Or is your mind playing tricks on you?

By using a fully physically simulated world, cutting edge 3D graphics and a dynamic sound system, the game pulls no punches when trying to immerse you. Once the game starts, you will be in control from the beginning to the end. There are no cut-scenes or time-jumps, whatever happens will happen to you first hand. Something emerges out of the darkness. It's approaching. Fast.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent throws you headfirst into a dangerous world where danger can lurk behind every corner. Your only means of defense are hiding, running or using your wits. Do you have what it takes to survive?

We thought Desura would take care of a sale, our mistake! It turns out we could activate a price change on our own. So enjoy Desura folks, a special 80% off until 11-11-11 11:11:11 just for you!

I'm kind of puzzled about this as well. I got Amnesia on Steam long before I even knew about Desura, and now that I've completely migrated here (thus, more or less, leaving my Steam account) it would be a bummer if there was no way to redeem this awesome game for Linux. :/

i got some info through the forums of this game (since no one caring to answer me here, i contact personally) on the end we need to buy it again. its contracts stuff so we are blamed for this since we buy through steam.

And then people wonder why does someone visit the Bay after legally buying a game. :P
Shame. It saddens me not having it on my account here. Lame contracts are lame...

I don't get why linux users buy it through steam, before checking the frictional store. There was a 75% discount at the same time.

sometimes you will be bored visiting each game website. so i check desura and steam and when a company issue a discount it should be in all stores (common sense). for that i thought steam did that on its own or what so ever . so i bought it from steam and the diffrance in price was big and didnt check the game website. and by the way i did buy it again here since i like the game and want to support disura. but i dont like the company way in dealing with this.

It makes me sad that game authors are treating Desura users as second-class citizens. I wouldn't expect this from Linux games, since Desura is the ONLY SANE WAY to install Linux games for the time being.

But Halloween is over, maybe better luck next year.

What makes you say that? Is there something wrong with your distribution's package manager?

+2 votes     reply to comment
intgr Nov 9 2011, 1:00pm replied:

My distribution's package manager works great, but it doesn't have any of the games I've bought on Desura. Linux distros have a policy of shipping open source stuff only.

Some Linux games include third-party .rpm or .deb packages, but they're only limited to a few distros, the packaging quality is often sub-par and they break when distros decide to move to newer library versions.

If you like dark atmospheres and intense plots full of suspense and psycological terror, such as those found in games like Silent Hill, Diablo 1,or S.T.A.L.K.E.R SoC, then this is the game for you.

Amnesia - the Dark Descent redefines it's genre.
