Alien Arena is a standalone that combines a sci-fi atmosphere with the tournament style deathmatch of Q3A and UT2k4. With major graphical features such as GLSL per-pixel lighting, ragdoll physics, light blooms, real time lights and soft shadows, Alien Arena brings a level of beauty and immersion not generally seen in deathmatch. The game also includes mutators, adjustable effects, bot skill settings, and fully configurable deathmatch, team deathmatch, CTF, All Out Assault, Team Core Assault, Cattle Prod, and Deathball games.
The game features original artwork, with with a dark sinister atmosphere combined with an off-the-wall campiness, and trippy, techno type music. There are currently over 60 maps, loaded with weapons(each having an alternate firing mode) and powerups.
Alien Arena has fast, smooth gameplay, and players can play online against one another or against the bots, which feature multiple skill levels, and will rocket jump, strafe jump, and taunt you mercilessly.

Alien Arena: Mercury Edition has been released!
After months upon months of work, the newest version of Alien Arena has been unleashed with a number of new features, graphical enhancements, and a much faster rendering game engine. This is a major enhancement, and players should see on average around a 300% increase in rendering speeds.
Some of the new features for this release include:
- Major improvements in map rendering speed
- HD lightmaps
- IQM mesh animation now handled in GPU for major performance gains
- Particle rendering optimizations
- Fixed issues with ATI and shaders
- Soft shadowmapping for vegetation and players
- Cubemapping on mesh and map surfaces
- New glass and water effects
- Weapon switching has been made significantly faster
- TCA now best two out of three
- Various player models received poly increases for smoothness
- New armor models

How do I get it updated to reloaded edition? My desura is still at the..really old edition
You can apply the patch, or install the standalone version.
Can't someone update the version on Desura?
OK. The Linux versions on Desura are now updated. Next time we will try to get that done on the release date. (Ignore the drain-bamaged comments related to the 64-bit version in the top-level READMEs.) Note that the executable name has changed from "crx" to "alienarena".
