Afterlife: Lost Paradise is a game developed
independently by a small Italian team. We want to achieve something that players
will love and we want our players to surprised by the artistic elements within
the game. We aim to immerse the player in a unique, complex and intelligent
story.


Our team has been working on this game for almost a year and there is still
much work to be done so we ask for your help to support us.


We want to offer our players a wide range of reasons to love this game such as:

  • An open world, with free choice of when and how to complete missions.
  • A dialogue system with RPG stylechoices that will affect the game world, events within the game, future interaction with NPC’s and the games environment
  • FPS gameplay abilities utilising unique weapons and powers with the opportunity for the player to access several puzzle sessions and situations using platforming styles.

As Alwyn, you are lost in a place that seems to be a Paradise. The only thing that keeps you stable is the memory of your wife. Soon you will understand that all that surrounds you is not what you think it is. Many questions haunt you. Why are you here? What is the reason? What is this place
and how did you get here?

Features that will make your gameplay experience unique are:

difficulty. Making the moral and right choice is not always the best solution.

Afterlife: Lost Paradise has an open world structure with a main
storyline and many dialogue-based side quests, which means that you can explore
all the game’s locations (even the secret ones) in the order that you prefer.
Let’s put an eye on all the mechanics of the game itself:


Dialogues:

  • One of main features of the game is that the world
    actually changes according to your choices. Difficulty, story and environment
    can all change. All dialogues are dubbed
    in Italian and English.

Combat System:

  • The Combat system utilises both “Soul Powers” (Ranged Combat) as well knives,
    swords and axes (Close Combat). There will even be special and unique weapons
    like a talking knife with its own quest. A small statue can be found in the
    game that will explain all the lore behind every single item in the game.

Enemies:

  • Enemies will be differentiated by unique visual characteristics linked
    to its environment. Every enemy can kill the player with few hits. This raises
    the overall difficulty but allows the player to make choices. For example,
    every time an enemy is killed, the player can choose to consume or chain the
    enemy’s soul. Consuming a soul will increase your health but negatively
    influences your psychical status whilst chaining a soul will give you “Soul
    Shards” (the games currency).

Bosses:

  • Very unusual and differentiated bosses can be faced, All using unique
    strategies. Some boss fights can be prevented according to the player’s
    former choices.

Player psychological status:

  • As explained before, player’s choices can directly influence the
    game’s Elements, events, and even Alwyn’s psychological and moral status. Making evil
    or good choices will give you unique dialogue features, locations, weapons and NPC
    encounters. It will also bring you to a difficulty change, and sometimes, an
    evil choice can be more rewarding than a good one.

Environmental destruction:

  • Some of the game’s elements can be destroyed in order to discover shortcuts and secret locations.

Collectables:

  • Many collectables can be found in order to discover the secrets behind
    the lore of the world.

We still have many ideas to improve and vary the gameplay!



A fundamental feature we consider in a videogame is its artistic side.
We want to bring the player deep into this world and make him/her feel a range
of emotions. In order to do this we want to put the player in front of a
“moving picture”. By this we mean something we hope is as quality as a still
image.


As part of the artistic side, the sound and music is also very important to transmit feelings
to the player.
