This is the first playable demo of Adrift. The download includes a README file with controls, and known issues. Please keep in mind that this is an early...
Adrift is a mix of strategic tower placement and arcade-style action coupled with cooperative survival. Players must use the strengths of their ship and work together to crush the waves of pirates, asteroids, and bosses that attack their colony.
- 1 to 6 player coop.
- Three customizable ship classes, each with it's own unique skill tree and weapon set.
- Choose your own strategy, create an ironclad defense with towers or gear up and become a unstoppable destructive force yourself!
- Put your teamwork to the test and face off against a variety of deadly bosses.
- Survive the onslaught of pirates and asteroids and emerge victorious!
Adrift is currently pre-alpha so all content in the game is subject to change, but the gameplay is in a pretty solid state, in the near future we will have a demo for public viewing!
What’s that? Your impenetrable defense got obliterated by giant artillery shells that just came out of nowhere? Well, you might have just run into the new boss in Adrift, “The Artillery Czar.”
This boss differs from others because it avoids an all out assault on your base, instead preferring to stay at a distance and lob huge munitions towards your base. Since it spawns with a wave of enemies, it’ll probably be too late before you realize that the huge red dot circling the edge of your minimap isn't an asteroid.
In order to beat the “Czar” you’ll need to work together, with some people focusing on bringing down the bullets before they reach your base and the others trying to destroy the infernal machine before it does too much damage. The shells will smash through any turrets in their way and explode on your base, dealing massive damage to both it’s health and population. Don’t worry though, once the “Czar’s” escort is taken care of, it’s pretty simple to banish it into the void since the only weapon at its disposal is that massive artillery piece, and it isn't exactly made for defense.
A quick team will be able to take care of an “Artillery Czar” before the population takes too much of a hit, but be careful this is a sneaky one. Usually the first sign of it’s presence will be a shell impact, whether it be on a player or the base. The second you notice that this thing is there, find it and KILL IT, otherwise you’ll be playing the game with much less population than you wanted.
Stay tuned to Adrift for many more boss updates in the weeks to come!
