3089 is a futuristic, procedurally generated, open-world action role-playing game. All terrain, enemies, weapons, items, quests & more are uniquely generated. You are a promising robotic android design, made by the Overlord, placed on planet Xax. Your performance in common combat, support & intel scenarios is being closely watched. However, will you become too much for them to handle? What else on planet Xax exists that the Overlord doesn’t know about?

Hey all,

Thanks to feedback from the artist @ Swawa3d.com, 3089 got some usability improvements. Take a look at how the item descriptions look now:

Things are much better organized & aligned, making it much easier to read. A "damage per second" value has been added to weapons, which should make comparisons easier. Finally, the box will follow the mouse cursor, and not always be centered on the screen.

I've also "capped" the size of the user interface, so players with high resolution displays won't see the interface stretched across the screen.

The other change you may notice is an option for "Jump Control" in the input configuration section. This will allow you to hold down the jump key to control the height of your jump. This option defaults to "off", which was the behavior before this update. Read about the rest of the updates here: 3089game.wordpress.com

Preparing for an early January release on Steam! I'm also gathering Steam keys to send to current owners, just as I did with 3079.

OK, back to work!

Wow! I've been playing only this game for the last 3 days and it is really great. That demo doesn't do it any justice at all. I played the demo and I wasn't impressed with it at the time but now that I have the full version and can put some real time in with it I can see it's certainly worth the money. I still fully stand behind my previous argument though when I said you're only shooting yourself in the foot when you make a demo with a 10 minute time limit, especially if it's a game with this kind of depth. A person would have to play the demo about 6-10 times just to see how fun this game can be. Maybe make a demo where you can only use level 1 items? Anyways great job on this game. I can't wait to see what improvements will be made on it.

I have a couple questions and suggestions if you're open to them. Like maybe armorer and gunsmith skills that act similar to the programming skill, where it will reroll the stats of a piece of armor or gun when you right click it? Also will we be able to split specialty items in the future, such as grappling hooks and telelocators? And finally I would like to make a request, in future releases would it be possible to let us access shops and such while standing on a hoverboard? Or alternatively could you create the option for a hotkey for equipping/unequipping hoverboards? I get on and off of a hoverboard A LOT and I'm sure you can see how a hotkey would be VERY useful. Anyways these are just suggestions, not criticisms. I love this game and I'm very anxious to see what direction it will be going in the future. Great job on it so far!

Finding a balance between previewing the game & giving too much of the game away for free is a challenge. However, players can play 6-10 10 minute games in the demo already, and I even recommend that right next to the demo download.

You've got lots of other questions that are best suited for the forum. However, I'll quickly address them here.

I want players to find new items & not rely on modifying current ones throughout the game. However, I do provide programming as a way to modify some items.

Many of the special items have effects that are closely tied to the level of the item (grappling hook -> burden support, timewarp -> robot difficulties that are slowed down etc.)... being able to swap parts out of different levels for these items would make things a little big messy / confusing, imho.

You slide around too much on a hoverboard to be able to stand still infront of a station, which is why I disabled it...

I am planning/considering a special item slot that you can toggle things, hoverboard being one of them!

Thanks again, glad you are enjoying it!

That sounds great! I can't wait to use the quick toggle feature. It would also be very useful for quickheals. I think I wasn't being clear about spliting specialty items though. What I mean is like if you have two hoverboards of the same level, for example:
Hoverboard level 1 (1):
Top part
+2 stealth
Bottom part
+1 agility

Hoverboard level 1 (2):
Top part
+1 stamina
Bottom part
+2 energy

It would be very useful to split and combine these hoverboards and other specialty items since they can provide stat bonuses. Does that make more sense?

The toggleable slot will likely not be used for quick heals.. I don't want healing to be instantly accessible. Going into your inventory is a small price to pay to use a consumable. I'd rather players rely on stamina, defense & skills instead of how many consumables you have in your inventory during battle.

Yeah, I do understand what you mean. I may enable that, but it isn't planned at the moment... working on a few other things that take precedence like co-op & terrain generation improvements.

I'm recieving an install error for 3089 on Desura.
When I try to download it, I get an error saying "There are no available realeases for you to play". Which then prompts Desura to try and find the game.

Any way to fix this?

Hrm... odd. You may need to contact Desura support on this one. I see all of the v0.87a releases as published & available on my Desura control panel. You don't see the standalone installers either?
