NOTICE: This game is set in trenches in Germany, therefore it was decided to keep the feel, that the language in the game is German (letters). The language selection between Danish and English in the beginning, is ONLY for the controls. The letters scattered around in the trenches are only bonuses and adds to the feel and ambiance of the game, take a look at them if you understand German or not, because they might hold self-explanatory drawings to aid you in the game. The game was made in a single month as part of a DADIU education. Please do not expect to play the game as an FPS, because it is not an FPS. It is a First Person Avoider Survival Horror game, for Indie Gamers. Experience the horror and senselessness of war. The enemy constantly hidden in the fog ready to pounce. Fatigue and shellshock distorting your movement and ability. The stress of uncertainty and adrenaline of chase followed by attack. Here, salvation is the blinding epileptic bombardment of the battlefied.
Well... At my first time playing this game i confunded the actual gameplay to CG cutscenes! Oh my God! You did a perfect job and you was only using Unity Game Engine!
You guys are the proof that YOU CAN make a good game in a regular Engine! I'm proud of this... This thing that I can´t call a game... It´s too little for this title... This is a huge masterpiece full of horrors that made me scream a ******* lot!
The graphics, the Fx sounds and the ambient are just great and perfect. This really made me felt like I was in a strange dream in the middle of the war, and that I would must wake up if I wanted to survive! I have beated this game in 3 videos, you can see all it here!
Obs: I'm brazilian, but I know a little bit on German.
Hope you guys like it!
This is a good game with very well done atmosphere. The sounds and graphic design really give you that tense, bleak, "you've got almost no chance to survive this" feel. There were some sudden surprises that made me jump a little as well. Very cool.
If I have one complaint it's that the game would benefit from more graphic options. With such a wide variety of graphics cards and monitors out there, it would be nice to have more resolutions available (as well as a refresh rate setting).
So, good game. Definetly worth checking out if you like survival games with a good ambiance.
1916 is that kind of game that puts you on an old time and triggers some horror details to that time, for me, a dinosaur thrilling game in middle of First world war is jsut amazing. It's graphics have potential, but some other textures were a little buggy, on teh first scene where you hold a letter, your finger is so strange. The gameplay is rich and unique, your first persoin camera is very different from many other games you played, when you walk or run it shakes like you were really on hte action and the corpses on the ground makes you feel more tense in the game. Another detail I liked was the fact of when the dino is coming for ya, the only option is to thrown a limb of a corpse so he can feed upon it. The only real bad thing is that I've had the strangest lag ever, I simply got close to the dino and the screen was crazy! many flashes and red lines, black too, everything was totally crazy, like I smoked marijuana. The game is great and guarantees good jump scares, Have Fun!
I haven't really played to game fully done, but i simply must say somethnig.
The game outmousfair and playstyle is very unique as the same as the graphics.
The AI's is pretty good programmed.
I asure you that this game is gonna scary you alot, hopefully you enjoy it as i did :)
Not so much a game as a survival horror experience. To me it felt like the gameplay was simply a tool you use to experience the..I'm not sure what to call this, I'm reluctant to say art. The experience however was gripping and I'm glad I gave this a go.
At the end of the day it's free, so you've not got much to lose from trying it out. It can be a short experience but the ambient sounds and monochromatic film grain visuals come together really well.
