The next chapter in The Elder Scrolls series, Oblivion is a single-player game that takes place in Tamriel's capital province, Cyrodiil. You are given the task of finding the hidden heir to a throne that sits empty, the previous emperor having been killed by an unknown assassin. With no true Emperor, the gates to Oblivion (the equivalent of hell in the world of Tamriel) open, and demons begin to invade Cyrodiil and attack its people and towns. It's up to you to find the lost heir to the throne and unravel the sinister plot that threatens to destroy all of Tamriel.

Oblivion features a groundbreaking new AI system, called Radiant AI, which gives non-player characters (NPCs) the ability to make their own choices based on the world around them. They'll decide where to eat or who to talk to and what they'll say. They'll sleep, go to church, and even steal items, all based on their individual characteristics. Full facial animations and lip-synching, combined with full speech for all dialog, allows NPCs to come to life like never before.

Blog RSS Feed Report abuse Latest News: AOA Steam Group Created

0 comments by NukeouT on Apr 23rd, 2008 digg this super bookmark

I created a new steam group for AOA.

Steamcommunity.com

Please support the project by joining. The more people involved & active in the group, the better and more awesome the project will become.

I put this group up due to my surprise on the intrest level this single moddb.com page has received. As of April 23 2008 there have been 1700 visits, ranking the mod 1,876 of 7,350! Nine people viewed the page today. I hope this user group will become a fantastic & easily acsessable hub for the apparently "thriving" AOA community.

Members can discuss the two projects (AOA:01 and upcoming AOA:02) with each other and the development team of one (me so far). Also lend a hand with Open Ended Development or apply with me for a part-time/full time position on the team. Sorry i have not done much atm, due to intensive art collage semesters & finals grinding. Did clear up my schedule for most of the summer tho...

Anyways I look forward to seeing, chatting and fragging with many of you on Steam.

PS: Icon and other info for group is a 'work in progress' atm.

Hope my x1800xt 512mb can run this (and yes that is shameless bragging :) ). Seriously though, this looks like it will need a pretty great rig to run at full steam, but CoD2 was very scaleable, so this may be too. Is it a Direct3D engine?

Yeah, im afraid that this isnt going to work unless u have a mid to high range rig. One look at it can tell you that. Of course Im sure you'll be able to tone the graphics down a notch... but LOOK at it. The games coming out nowadays (such as CoD 2) are having pretty high requirements now, and morrowind has alot of ambience that needs cpu time :(.. im afraid i wont be able to run this unless i get some more ram :-S... but seriously u cannot run that^^ with 512 MB ram

"OB will require a good processor, roughly 10 gigs of hd space, a 128 meg graphics card, and about 512 megs of ram. It will not require a supercomputer, as mine will run it on mid level settings and it will look just fine"

How do you know? It's not out yet and no system specs have been released! This is the closest we've got to system specifications:

"What are the PC system requirements?
We don't know at this time, but it will certainly look the best on the latest hardware available when the game is released."

It looks considerably better than HL2 graphically, and considering its made for a next-gen console its likely to require more than a year-old PC game.

BTW anyone know how much HD space a user on xp takes up...I'm thinking 2-3 gigs but I'm not sure. I may be doing a user purge to clear some hd if 2-3 gigs is the case.

Eh, dont fret guy. Im sure its another one of those games that just looks like it'l need a supercomputer type system to run, when in actuallity an marginally above average system will run it just fine. i mean, take a look at half life 2
