The Idea for 1099: First Crusade is to provide a simulation of the 12th Century (1100s). The game will be a player driven world that's historically accurate and realistic, a world that is Immersive and dangerous, the world would provide you with many Challenges, but many rewards as well.
As the game will be in a First person perspective, this shall allow for fierce melees and skilled shots killing the most heavily armoured knight.
This shall allow you to do as you wish as long as you got the skill and resources. You will be able to design your own castles and buildings to suite your needs, through the use of blueprints of which can be customised to the players demands (And Player created for buildings)
The main features will include,

  • A huge selection of historic weapons to use and craft (and also customise)

Brand New Terrain

We have been quiet for a while but we have been perfecting our terrain. It is generated when the game starts giving players a unique game every time.

We have 4 terrain types: hills, mountains, plains and scattered. We plan in adding more in the future. If anyone has suggestions to improve our terrain let us know! The textures have not fully been added yet and the full height of the hills/mountains is not yet finished.

We will have different areas of texturing: tundra, arctic, desert, rainforest, moors and plains. This does not just effect the texturing it effects the weather, time and the items on the terrain and also gives you access to items only available to that area!

In the next few days we will get our character walking about the terrain once the texturing has been finalised and we will post a video so you can see what it is like!

ok i want to ask a couple of questions:
1. will all the warriors be from western europe? I'd really like for every faction to have a "mercenary class" featuring most faimous mercenaries (like gaelic warriors, normans, ect.)

2. i saw a great dueling game here on moddb that uses similar game mechanics like call of kings, it's close to mount&blade (like this game) and is basicaly 1 on 1 online fights, perhaps more... what's the name of the game if anyone knows???

There will be a unique class system called the 'flexy system', where the class you are depends on your weapons and amour, clothes etc.. For example you have a small stabbing spear as your main weapon, with a small shield and padded (or worse cloth)Armour, the system would class you as a militiaman, add a javelin or bow you would be a light skirmisher.

At start it would be western styled warriors, but we have plans for the future.

This project has a lot of potential. I could offer up some help with modeling where needed. Others have mentioned it, but the spear I could replicate, unwrap, and texture it correctly in about 5 minutes.

No disrespect to the modeler, it seems he/she is learning, and the best way to learn is to take constructive criticism to heart, and not personally.

Try making the spear again, and again, until there are no turned edges, flipped faces, and fix everything everyone else has mentioned.

Yes,indeed,I usually use 3ds max for all my models however,I'v recently started using blender (I find it more interested when it comes to modeling) so I'm learning blender as I go.The only way to learn in my opinion is experience,so I'v decided I'll only be modeling in blender for this project (Thus,forcing me to learn from experience) understand my thinking? I appreciate it though,and yes I accept all forms of constructive criticism. I hope you are a decent modeler(I assume you are) and will be interested in joining this project.It IS a lot of work indeed.
