Falchion's are a unusual weapon, you may mistake this for the Middle eastern Scimitar, but this was developed in Europe at around 11th century, There are two types of Falchion, a Clever like weapon and a slashing weapon
Clever like falchions resemble Machetes and butchers knives,They can easily slice a mans limbs off.
Slashing like Falchions look like Scimtars, they do the same as cleaver one but does slashing instead
The Example shown is a Hacking one, believe it or not this weapon was considered by many as a Peasents weapon, but it was lethal to a unarmed arm.

They were generally made from iron with steel edges
The Falchion sword had a single edged blade which had a a slight curve on the blade
The length of the Falchion sword ranged from 37 - 40 inches
The Medieval Falchion sword weighed between 1 - 2 pounds
It was used as close contact weapon
The weapon was primarily used for cutting or slicing an opponent and was capable of cutting off the limbs or head of an enemy in one stroke

Falchions although do get the job done, and do have a faster attack rate if i remember correctly for they are not as heavy as a broad sword.
