Spring:1944 is a WWII themed RTS based on the open source Spring Engine. Our goal is to create four fully functional sides (US, Germany, USSR, Britain) with period-accurate units and strengths. Realism is a primary design goal, second only to creating a game that is fun and accessible to play. Why is this different from the umpteen zillion other WWII RTS games? A few reasons. First: SCALE. In an average game between two players on a medium-large map, you may see upwards of 400 infantry of various types, dozens of halftracks and armored cars, artillery batteries, light, medium and heavy tanks, aircraft and more. And - you build it all yourself. Second: Degree of control. With roots in the classic RTS "Build, expand, destroy" playstyle, YOU make the decisions on what units you think are most suited to the current (and ever-changing) situation, and build accordingly - none of this "here are your two Shermans and thirty men, have fun..." business seen in games such as Sudden Strike.

Description

These are just four old shots I found laying around my harddrive and figured they'd do more good on the moddb profile.

They are: an old shot of the T-34-85 Medium Tank, a head-on of a Spitfire Fighter Bomber clearing the target area, the three variants of the M3/M5 halftrack (for Brits, US and Soviets), and the AEC Mk.III, a delightfully goofy looking British heavy combat car.

Image specific: While the AEC Mk. III looks bizzare, don't discount it: it carries the same 75mm cannon as the M4A4 Sherman tank, and zips around the map nearly twice as quickly as the Sherman. However, the shoddy armor on this particular vehicle means that it must rely on speed to survive. Additionally, it can only hold a handful of rounds for the main gun, so it will frequently be returning to supply zones to restock on ammunition.
