So, I saw this ad one night about some backup camera and 61 children (or something) "1 monster truck vs. 61 Children" I said, "Will he make the jump?" my brother responded. So the next morning I started work, and finished it. Yes... in one morning. I then (a few weeks later [or something]) added sound! So mash your spacebar today in this wonderful game with "stunning quality" as you jump over 61 children in a monster truck! It's been a while since 1 Monster Truck Vs. 61 Children officially launched over four years ago. I'm excited to announce that I have been working on an HD remake of this game that will support 1080P and maybe even 4K and some extra features not present in the original game.
The first feature of this HD remake that I'm particularly excited about is texture packs. While I had created a re-skinned version of this game for Christmas, this remake will have native texture pack support allowing switching of textures in game. Users will be able to create their own textures in their favorite photo editing software, such as Microsoft Paint, and load them right into the game or share them with others.
I'd like to put this game on Steam via the Steam Greenlight program, and while I had previously submitted the original to Steam Greenlight in the early days, it was removed as no one believed it was a real game. (Probably due to the intense visuals.) I had contacted support and they told me I could re-submit it, however I'd like to submit the HD remake instead once it is complete. What I'd particularly like to do if I can get this game green lit would be to have workshop integration for the as mentioned before texture packs.
One possible feature for the future, but not on initial release, is Mac/Linux compatibility. The issue with that is that I'm unsure still as to whether I should attempt to program this game in Java, which I'm a bit rusty in and might take a while, or if I should build it in Game Maker which is easy and what the original was built in. If I go with the first, it will increase development time, if I go with the second, porting to other platforms would require purchasing Game Maker Studio, which is expensive, and I don't want to charge for this game as I believe everyone should get to experience this majestic work of art and participate in the creation of custom content.
The last feature I'd like to talk about is resolutions. While the original game ran fixed in either an 800x600 or a 1024x768 resolution, (I honestly can't remember) I'd like to make this game run at the users native resolution up to at least 1080P. I've already created a background at 1080P, though now with 4K resolutions coming along, I might try and support that as well.
I look forward to bringing this remake to release and I hope it will be enjoyed just as thoroughly as the original!
