ZDaemon Moddb clan Thread

Hey i dont know how many of you guys play Doom through zdaemon... But have any of you thought of trying to create a Doom Clan... Cheapalert is trying to put together a WAD..
BUt have you thought a Moddb Clan?

actually... why more universal? Like, pick some of the other games, doom, all the quakes, maybe few others, and we can setup a moddb clan for some other things too!

hmm thats a good idea... I just thought of something if the clans ran through moddb wouldnt they be massive... You would have to have more than one moddb clan for that game..

I'm in, but only to Skulltag/Doom Legacy. I don't do zdaemon. BTW, maybe instead of making a clan, why don't we just wear [moddb] tags in online games?

OK man, I'll download it. I didn't get it earlier because I liked Legacy (graphics), and Skulltag (mp game modes - wee!) more. Zdaemon.. //me dl's

Zdaemon should have enough graphics you need. Blood splats, bullet holes, fast framerate, etcetterah. I like it no problem.

Hehe, by "graphics" I meant more OpenGL support, transparency and so, but of course classic graphics are great too . And Zdaemon is a Boom-style port right? I mean, it has some bug fixes from original Doom and interesting additions, but no advanced code changes.

Zdaemon is based on a Zdoom build from the year 2000 or so.

It doesn't do 3d cards.

YOU DONT NEED 3D ACCELERATION ANYWAYS, it looks good enough and runs great

i'm with the [moddb] tags idea!

so far the safest bet for a clan is to have it with people you know

other people arent aclan. its more like a loose organization with similar words in []'s in front and or back of their name

unless of course we'd have a regular scrimage. like in q1, hl, whatever, but if its hl dont use steam !!!

why not steam? some mods are cool in steam (like NS)

but some mods onli work with WON.

Steam doesn't work for many people. For me, it's terribly slow, and it randomly hangs up. Plus, you can play NS without steam too, just like CS or DoD.. or I am wrong?

I dont mind steam it works great for me. Any way I think making a clan type thing is a good idea.

Hmm what are your guys ID to ZDaemon?

You can't change your nick in ZDaemon for tags iirc.

barely any players on WON playing NS. steam has like 2000 average i think, while hl multiplayer has like 200, maybe less. (last time i checked was v.3 beta 1 )

That's not zdaemon. I'm not using that, it has VERY BAD networking code and it really doesn't support special boom-ish maps/wads like TLSD2004.

Also, it's slow on most comps D:

i think we should also start a q3 clan!! I bet in a lil bit of time we'd be badasses and take on some of the really good clans like ll or dbr!

Hardly any of us have q3a however. People diss it in favor of Half(prep)Life.

Jdoom is great, played it long time ago, with Memento Mori wads it's really impressive. But you are right, the networking code sux.. but the whole port works ok in 800x600 and 16 bit colors on my old 400 mhz.

No please, no q3a .

I would just stick with ZDaemon..
