hehe... if you had university courses about 3d computer graphics those equations are familiar to you... the nice thing on those shader thingies is just that you can mostly to ray-tracing like calculations (meaning point-by-point basis) and this makes it much simpler to follow... ^_^

Well, he's not going to teach you an entire college course in order to understand the sheets.

i guess the limits in this case are less by the engine and more by the graphic card used as this shader thingy mostly is carried out on the GPU alone.

Basically it shows that HL2 is better than FarCry and Doom 3 techincally. :D In other words it looks better in the end. :D

nah... doom3 for sure uses a similar shader technic... i don't think they both take away each other much. with FC i don't know but i guess it's not far behind neither.

All Doom 3 had going for it technically was bump-mapping. lol

Half-Life 2 is so much better :D

nope. look at the glass effects and the steam effects. they are the same technically as the source water and glass effects. also doom3 has different kind of texture-maps to produce advanced lighitng effects same as hl2. they don't really differ much in the basics.

honestly, all that didnt sound impressive at all.. And one thing that stood out to me is it mentioned vertex model lighting.. Isn't vertex lighting... older? And i mean.. none of that showed source as bein better then doom 3 IMO.. Like the source licensing paper.. Those features aren't all that special.. :P I think doom 3 still takes it.
