You like money, right...? Thread

I think it would be a good idea to open a PayPal account for use with this site, and have a small link for people to donate money.
Quite a few other sites are doing this now and it seems to be a fairly effective way of offsetting hosting fees a bit, as many users are willing to donate a bit in exchange for the service you're providing to everyone for FREE! By no means should it be compulsory (of course!) but having the option there might be a good idea!

Yeah, no requirements or lack of features if you don't donate, but it would be a way for some of the more devoted members to share the love.

I'm not saying to not do the idea, but I alwas think one of two things when I see those
A: Grubby guy
B: Funny gubbens!
Even though I know it sometimes a lot of costs mony to run sites, I still alwas think that :/

But staying on topic, if there was a paypal thing, it would go to the cost of the server. So to Oktagone.

Meh, i think it'd be a good addition! Tis a great and helpful site, and indeed, mousepads would be kewl, heheh Plus yeah, it'd pay for server costs...

I think it's a good idea from a webmaster point of view. We're thinking of doing this over at ambershee's to get funding for the rather expensive film project that's going on there The site comes out if my own pocket anyway.

Doesn't cost him anything? Are you saying this is some kind of promotional deal with Oktagone... ie. he get free hosting because they know this sweet sweet site is going to draw customers to them?

If this is the case, then surely they wouldn't give him the planned DOWNLOAD server for free?

Hmmm... I still think we need a way to reward the hard-working admins somehow.

As for the dopwnload thing, there will be two, like in Gamespy. One, the free one with lines. Two one for pay, no lines. See?

Well, the download server isn't finalised yet, v2 is the main priority.

Well, donate to Greg and Oktagone then. As Intense said, moddb came out of Greg's pockets...

Whatever! As long as we donate to whoever's put in the funding to get this thing going... then they can distribute money to other admins if they so please

modDB costs around $250 USD a month to run (for me), however i am doing this for no charge and wont accept any donations for it

Its just my service back to the community, and also im doing it because INtense! is such a great guy
