And the guys who will just use God's name in vain all day long, because someone shot them. Or they got an accidental friendly fire, and they act as if you just insulted their mother because one stray bullet flew into them as they stupid kept strafing right in front of, blocking 3 perfect shots? Or the newbie who keeps moving your spawnpoint/tank back to the beginning of the map because he's too dumb to realize its not the objective? or the guy who always states "he's the best" because he thinks a balance breaking weapon combo isn't why he gets so many kills? Oh, and lets not forget the guys who just breathe creepily into their mics, ignoring the fact that everyone can hear them... or they let people in the background make noise loud enough that it makes you want to mute your PC/console?

I'm not trying to rant here, not at all. I'm just curious, how do you guys deal with them? I've been playing the M.A.G. demo for a while, and it astounds me what idiots will just do in the game. The same goes for Bioshock 2, Battlefield 2142 demo, Section 8, Team Fortress 2, and generally any multiplayer game or demo that is known to man. Except for games like F.E.A.R., that lack voice chat (I don't know if that's a blessing or a curse).

I generally try to just ignore them, but today they really were something special today in M.A.G. (the one guy just seemed surprised and frustrated by everything. I've never seen such a drama queen before. And he called me annoying, and I think tried to kick me once, for the fact I tried, first rather calmly, to tell him to be quiet).

Griefers (aka, Team Killers and chat-spammers) I can handle with little issue (games are being built these days to make it harder for them to succeed). But breathing like a stalker and making my ears hurt from random curses at the simplest things, really pushes it.

So, as I said, what do ye do to compensate?

How I handle it: Disregard it
How other people handle it: Bitch/moan/complain to admins/leave the server/join them etc.

Eh, there was a time when I only played games in single player. But I honestly do enjoy playing games with people -when they actually behave like they're playing a team-based game-. And like I said, the F.E.A.R. series is a great place for multiplayer. The first game's multiplayer is available for free now, actually. Just look up F.E.A.R. Combat. Aside from Bioshock 2, it's one of my favorite multisplayers. Just beware melee combat expert...

Rarly happens to me when i play css, dod or tf2, but when it does happen generally everyone on the server annoys the fuck out of the person whos annoying us till he leaves or stops.

Lol, this happens all the time on Black Ops on xbox live. You always get the annoying kid screaming into the mic with his family shouting behind him.

Just take the opinion that 85% of people in this world are useless retards (especially in chat rooms, online games or on the general internet) and just ignore them, mute them etc.

Sometimes it's quite funny though when a few people are arguing against each other in the lobbies. Swearing, mum jokes and everything else.

I also like it when you play a game and you win, or kill the same person multiple times and they send you a message after the game abusing you and going off on one. Makes me laugh everytime imagining them sitting their skitzing over the game because they have no life.

Did games stop allowing you to mute individual players?

I did some time ago a coop at Portal 2 with a random guy not from my friend list. He accidentally left the mic open, I told him about it, but didn't muted it. At the beginning was weird as I was hearing all his typing on the keyboard, but then was funny, I think he ate something heavy for dinner, so for the entire coop campaign I heard him farting all the time lol.

It's part of the game. Sometimes people like that even increase the fun of the game with their panic attacks and commentary.

It's a phenomenon I've yet to encounter in any other group of people. Real life has its fair share of pricks sure, but "gamers" seem to ramp it up a thousand times over. As Tetsuo mentioned, you can't even sit in a game lobby without people being retards.

I apparently must be the most randomly lucky guy on the planet then, because I can think of an instance just days ago where three guys in my squad from M.A.G. were all trying to coordinate an attack, and were actually focused on the mission (The third played medic, healed me 3 times in one life).

Also, on the rarest of occassions, I've had people who use -tactics- in Halo.

You just need to remember those types of people, and stick together (hence why anyone from Bioshock 2, that is actually intelligent, I add to my friend's list. that sometimes you can call somebody in and fill a nearly full server.).
