I posted an article on March 6th about my game, Lost Fishy, and it ended up on Indie DB, which is fine, but I don't know how to get it on Indie DB or why it didn't go there in the first place. If I've done something wrong, I've not been told, and, therefore, will probably make the same error in the future. I'm wondering how this process works on getting your articles onto Indie DB news.
Incidentally, this is my news post that I wrote to appear on Indie DB

Sometimes my news are visible at Indie DB main screen, sometimes not (but they are posted and authorized). Also don't know why

To give a short explanation (the explanation that was given to one of the other developers that sent a private message about this):

feillyne wrote: news is currently being prioritised by
A) profile type (mod, AAA game, indie game, app game)
B) the quality and quantity of embedded media, textual content

and it can be featured on one, two or all three sister sites: Slide DB, Indie DB, and Mod DB.

AAA game news is not featured on any of the sites [except for sponsored AAA game posts and general mod SDK / editor release news which are featured on Mod DB]; chiefly mobile app profiles are frontpaged only on Slide DB, and the best desktop indie news is featured on Mod DB as well (double-featured on IDB & MDB; as we received many complaints from the community why indie articles are being frontpaged on Mod DB in the first place).

So if your project is mainly targeting various mobile app audiences and only a very small part of the PC/desktop community, your news is featured only on Slide DB and sometimes (if your article is long enough / contains tons of media content) also double-featured on Indie DB.

So 2 major reasons why some app news is featured on Indie DB frontpage is
1) quality & quantity of media (if your article features little media it can be featured on SDB but not IDB; only a tad bit better news or desktop-only articles would be featured on Indie DB then; but if your app news is of excellent quality, it has high chance to be double-featured on Indie DB as well)
2) exact type of the game and its targeted audience; apps mostly targeting mobile audiences will be featured only on Slide DB (the quality of your article can sometimes secure an exception however)

If your news is mainly targeting desktop audiences (yet both mobile/PC fanbase) but badly falls short of quality, it can be either 1) archived (not shown anywhere) or 2) featured only on Slide DB (as SDB has less visitors and less articles than the two other sister sites and therefore much lower quality standards than Indie/Mod DB).

Thanks feillyne!
Now it's more understandable

If you improved your article (it includes 4-6 pics + 1 video, or e.g. music score in additon to tons of text/images etc.) and you need it rechecked, you can send me a private message and can un-archive and switch it on on both IDB & SDB, and finally bump & authorise it so there is no need to resubmit any news piece. The only requirement is improving/editing the article in question and then PMing.

Just letting you know, and sorry for the late reply to the responses (haven't been here for a few days), my news post has been posted for a few days (maybe a week) now. Thanks for all the responses and info to my original post.
