Lol... ya know what they say about Great Minds! lolz.... But yea, The image more or less grabs it... but when tweaked those lower leg parts should have a large/strong looking Calf muscle to show both proportion and swimming strength for this particular character/model. Again... jus' my opinion! Edited by: Orion |

I agree with the changes that nsg made to the anatomy. THis way it looks more realistic in a sense, as though if there were a creature with such a form, then those are the legs which we would see. It's also one of the better ways of having the legs, in an engineering sense. Overall, i like it quite a lot. Can't wait to see how you'll texture it and such! -- Every mountain can be climbed. |

Something is really strange there. Are the bump-outs modeled or mapped? It's like somebody hammered on the weapon. Maybe though also some smoothing going haywire. |

I agree the plates are oddly shaped. Also the amount of bolts is too much. I'm sure the plates would hold still with a fewer bolts in them. Use the numerical type-in boxes when adjusting the vertices positions when you're doing mechanical models. It helps a lot to get things stay straight. -- So I made the feet shorter and less wide... edit: added some more digits to hands and feet... Edited by: Jimi |

Some times ago ( I think it's even still in this topic ) I showed some renders of an old project I started some time ago to train a bit on high detail modeling ( well, depending on what you call high detail that is ). Picked some crappy reference images I found on the net and went on. Got half way through when I got stumped since the images lacked the details I needed for that project. One of the major lacks of details had been in the mecha cockpit. I had no idea how it looked. So things got stalled some time ago ( old images amongst others here ). Then I came across some images by luck including views of such a cockpit. Dusted out that model to give it a go on the cockpit side. I wanted to make especially a usable cockpit. As the indie game dev I am I played around with this as a real-time game cockpit. After all there are not many games which actually have fully 3D in-game cockpits with dynamic cameras ( right now I know no such game but the ones I heard about get all except the dynamic camera part to my knowledge that is ), especially I've seen no game with those buggers having that. And somehow a mecha is only fun if you play it from the inside not over-the-shoulder. It's still WIP as I try to put some more stuff into it ( especially some seat belts ) so it especially still uses plain single-color materials ( smoothing in blender sucks, I know ). Also made a few test animations using my engine to see how this would look like but nothing I feel like showing You can most probably not read the text in the status bar on the left. It's supposed to be "durability" ( red: I don't like the term HP ), "energy" ( blue: no idea what this does but I found it in many games so I put it in there ) and "shield" ( green: it's in the name of the mecha so I made a shield meter ). So just honk out what you would think about such a cockpit view in a game ( click for larger images, 1024 or so in size ). Edited by: Dragonlord |

Well those criticisms are understandable; It is supposed to be a make-shift weapon. It's for a small source mod im putting together for me and 3 of my friends to play. It takes place many years into the future; long after civilization is destroyed... So you can't expect everyone to be a machinist! Jimi, the legs are looking a lot better. I like the color of the two models in the middle better. (im sure its just lighting) Dragonlord, that cockpit looks really good. That first-person view is awesome. That liger thing in the ftp link you posted is pretty cool as well. RazorB, shit man you might as well leave it unfinished then; it is looking good and complete to me.. maybe a little more of a background, although the one you have now is fine. That shoulderpad with the smiley face on it looks great. Edited by: ngs616 |

Why not make an office game so that you can be in the office on your spare time? Or you could play the office game in the office and the circle is complete. |

A CS:S map, i just started on it tonight so it's not too pretty. I compiled it and me and my friends played it for about 3 or 4 hours its pretty fun. It needs a lot of work though. The direct link below is in 1680x1050 Edited by: ngs616 |

Well I now finally have the time to get back into all my 3D work, after packing in a lousy job I has for nigh on a year. Anyway here is a couple of things I have been working on recently. Sci-fi Torch Wooden Pallet

The pallet is nice but something's odd on that floodlight but I can't put my finger on it. Most probably with the front side. I first thought it's a soda can with grip. |

Make the glass a little less alpha, since it looks 99% transparent, it may seem unfinished and a bit awkward as Dragonlord pointed out. But other than that, awesome models Edited by: Toyoka |
