What is Electronic Arts, Really? (Forums : General Banter : What is Electronic Arts, Really?) Locked

Ladies and Gentlemen,

EA Games is one of the biggest companies around. They have bought out many game developers and still are. In the past few days, there has been news of EA creating every NFL game and soon every NBA game. Last week they bought 20% of ubisoft, responsible for games like prince of persia and splinter cell, and will probably buy the rest of the company. They are also working on buying DICE, creators of the Battlefield series. So is EA really helping out the industry? I think not. Its getting harder to get jobs these days, and even harder when one company owns 50% of the industry. Thats the case with EA. if you wanna quit your job, good luck. The chances of working in the industry again is slim now.

Some of you may have read this essay, but it has made its way through the papers and is probably one of the most interesting reads. The life of an EA worker is rough. And the way this is going totally puts me against Electronic Arts.

Please have a good read with this and think about it.

once EA do buy everything "good" it will just mean a new breed of games by revolutionary independent companys will eventually rise through because Ea will just produce a game about the cold war with 4 diff companys at the same time just so theres "competition" and everyone will get bored o that shit

Electronic Arts are the biggest bunch of shit-eating, monkey fucking, sperm swallowing assholes ever. They refuse to make games with any gore, and they own most of the industry. The last bloody game they made was American McGee's Alice in 199 freaking 8. They need to get some balls. The only EA game I was happy with was NFSU2. Otherwise, they need to start pumping out more games rated Mature, to capture the fanbase for blood-n-gore people like me. There's a lot more blood-n-gore loving people out there than EA thinks there are. They should tap into that fanbase. They'd get more rich than they already are.

Yeah, they are catoring to parents who do not play games (not the ones who do) which is not a very good idea...

I know that if EA put that good-old-fashioned EA quality into a game with extremely copious amounts of blood, I'd buy it without a second thought.

ea doesnt put copious amounts of blood.

hell, look at them, keeping medal of honor a T-rated game :(

ww2 was meant to be violent, thats why we had it!

What? No, we had ww2 so we could make hundreds of movies on games. Really we had ww2 so that we could become a power in eurpe, we goaded Japan on to get into the war, we also knew about pearl harbor and did nothing so as we could declare war on them.
