Hey guys!

We're a bunch of game devs with a past at Mojang, Paradox and Massive, gone indie and making our first game together: Lake Ridden.

N00b question about the way "articles" IndieDB works. We got a lot of tips and tricks for making games (art, code, production, etc) that we want to share with the IndieDB community. How do people do that on IndieDB? Do they post them as "articles" on their games's DB-page OR/AND at the developer's DB-page or is there a better way to share useful posts and developer posts?

As you can tell, for now I posted the same article on both our Developer-page and Game-page ("How To Make A Kickass Game Art Portfolio").

Or is perhaps the "Tutorial" section on the Game's AND/OR Developer's pages the best place? Or is that only meant for tutorials on how to play the specific game?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers!

Hey, you can post them as either, there is no perfect solution. Though if your article is more like a guide or tutorial aimed at developers (e.g. at artists to teach them how to flesh out their models and not people in general who would happen to be interested in the process behind your game) then perhaps it should be in tutorials section. If those articles are more casual however, it is fine to post them just as regular news.

Taking your aforementioned post as an example Indiedb.com it could be added in either section as it may prove to be a good read for gamers and reviewers too.

Oh, on a side note, you should always post news via your game profile page, not the company page. It is automatically linked with the team page when you do that. Also you can link your news with community groups (not dev teams' pages however as that would count as spamming) such as Unity Devs and Indie Devs for more exposure. So your own game profile (and linked hobby/fan groups) are the best pages to post any kind of articles (including tutorials).
