[Wanted] Modellers, Animators, Skinners Thread

[HL2 MOD] Apologies for lack of detail in the title. Thanks for noticing it Vangor.

Hi I'm Nemor and I model for, and lead a mod called E-Force. As featured on PC Gamer Pcgamer.com

E-Force is based around the theme that in the year 2020 the peak oil theory has come into play, which is basically that over the years, oil gets so cheap that people use it more until eventually it's almost depleted, so then the price goes back up and people, including governments, fight over what oil they can get their greedy hands on.

You will play as either the Chinese or the European Union, in later additions Oil Pirates, in a fight over oil. Where you must do whatever is in your teams power to control oil fields, seize enemy oil trucks and outposts and generally crush your opponent into the dirt.

At the moment our mapping team is very strong but other areas are lacking a little and we desperately need people to put our numbers up and aid us in getting the mod completed. We're still quite a while away, admittedly, but progress is nice and steady.

So if you're one of the following please, don't hesitate to e-mail me or post on our forums, or the recruitment page.

- Vehicle/Character Modeller
- Skinner (Must know how to UVW Unwrap)
- Coder (To assist our current coder who is under alot of strain)

Cool, sounds a similar story idea to my Defeat in Detail 2 mod, except that's an RTS. Have fun guys

Not much against the mod itself, but, the oil crisis really lacks in terms of being a main plot for anything, as realistically the use of hybrid engines is already moving to the forefront, and people do not realistically use more oil simply because it is cheaper, they use as much as they have always need, and cut back if it is too expensive, but this is rare. The reason most alternative energy sources are not utilized further is not because they aren't in play, many companies have full research facilities for these testing and using them to great efficiency, but, gasoline driven machinery happens to be most utilized, and it often we do not replace technology with such a major swing until it proves necessity.

However, as a basis it isn't bad, and the idea for gameplay certainly puts it to use which means you are involving an oil crisis directly so it isn't as meek.

As well, you may wish to note which mod it is on the topic next time, I by chance clicked this, as the title reads rather poorly and shifts our view to believe it is a just beginning, useless mod.

Lol! Iraqi War in 2020

Oil is still in use because its the cheapest fuel currently available. Prices are starting to come down on things like gas, but they too will run out some time in the future, so it's not a renewable source just like oil.

There are plenty of alternative fuels out there being researched but all currently take oil to make, and cost more. And alot even take more energy to create than they can give out.

The use of oil rises exponentially every year, as more houses are constructed, our populations rise, businesses boom, more and more will continue to be used until it's depleted. It won't be depleted entirely but there will be so little left that the whole world cannot sustain it's own people, and as such prices will soar and eventually countries will go to war. Just as America has done in the past and is currently planning to do.

As for it misleading, I apologize.

Iraq War 2020? Don't think so, comments like that aren't welcome unless they're constructive, which yours isn't. I'm sorry if that's not how you mean it but it makes the mod sound degrading.

I might also add we are revamping the storyline but the original concept stays. If theres anyone out there who knows quite a deal about the Peak Oil Theory or is just a plain good story writer willing to do the research, please get in touch.

I'm not trying to be offending, I'm telling you the blunt truth.It sounds almost a replica of the current/past spots of the Iraqi War.

Don't mean to burst your bubble, but it is.Like it or not.

Whether you choose to heed my criticism is your choice, but putting things on a forum is giving permission for me to comment as wanted.

I know it's not meant as an offense and I can see why some may think this is another Iraq war but I feel this mod is a little deeper than that, I also beleive it to be original from all Iraq mods.
