i have no idea what polys mean anymore. i'm used to the good ol days of q3 where all player models were about 1700 polys. |

yes..a poly is a triangle, the head was 1 poly, torso was 1 poly same with arms and legs i dont see hwo its possible to use 4 polys |

No. Not at all. Wolf3d didn't use polys. It didn't use 3d models. Like Doom it used sprites for the enemies. Hence, 0 polys. Trust me, I used to mod for it in the long, long ago. Edited by: Mauvebib -- Defeat in Detail 2 - Standalone RTS Game |

Wow nice job! Is this for a certain mod tho? Will these be drivable or just for decoration? -- The smilie knows best. |

It's for his mod, 4x4 Revolution or something like that, sorry if I got it wrong. |

4096, like Half-Life. Though in modern Q1 engines like Darkplaces, that shouldn't matter. -- < insert subject games here >

oops I thought the car was 4x4 nvm....Yea Half life was based on the quake engine so they should share the same poly limits. -- The smilie knows best. |

Nope, Quake 1. The Bona Fida original. |

Valve licenced the Quake engine, but used some Quake 2 code too. To be honest, most of it was rewritten by Valve, but the basic chasis of the HL engine is the Quake engine. I find it amusing that the leaked code for the 'from scratch' Source engine still contains comments by John Carmack. -- Defeat in Detail 2 - Standalone RTS Game |

You didn't need to add all that unnecessary detail on the underbelly of the car.People who don't have top of the line computers will have their fps cry when trying to play a game with that puppy in it. That being said, it looks nice. -- When there is no more room in Hell, the Dead will walk the Earth. chis wrote: |

Then maybe those people should not play the mod...or with the certain car. He could also have graphics settings changing the models to low or high poly. -- The smilie knows best. |

The first part of that statement is stupid.Only an idiot would specifically make something to destroy a could-be player base. The second part could be true, but still. There is an unnecessary amount of detail.Unless you're going to play with the top half of the car underneath, and have the bottom as the top (in which sense would be an even worse idea) then you still don't need all that detail. Take CarmaGordon for example. They have hardly any detail on their models, yet they still look nice. -- When there is no more room in Hell, the Dead will walk the Earth. chis wrote: |
