Unique Football Mod Thread

Been kicking around the idea of doing a generic Arena Football mod for ut2k3/4. Just sending out a feeler to see if anyone would be interested in working on such a mod. I know there is a demand for a realistic Arena Football since a lot of fans have been asking an no one seems to want to put the resources into a retail product. Anyway if anyone would have any interest in working on such a mod let me know and maybe we can pursue this idea further.

Good luck making one. It takes a hell of a lot of work to make it look good, especially with the animations and whatnot. I'd rather play Madden on my computer than that

I'm not a sports fan, but I've always wondered why there was a lack of any sports mods. Seems like a football game for a modern engine would be very popular. You'd only have to make one map, a couple player models, and some skins with different numbers & faces. Gameplay and player animations would be critical though.

Soccer Mod

I bet a football mod would be cool.. I have played deathball and that was pretty fun and I imagine that football would be fun... It would just be difficult to work in plays, bots and bot animations, penalties and all that good stuff. but yeah its a nice idea i am always for any kind of sports mod since there are so very few good ones out there.

Because football sucks on the computer compared to the console. lol

I think that a great game could be made with all the realism of the best sims out there you just have to cut things down to get the best of everything. I personally think arena football would be a little easier to pull off because of the size, you have less players to deal with and things could be a little better controled.

Oh and just to put something to rest..with out good computer games consoles would not be where they are today so please show a little respect.

well I dont completely support u or Karuto on that... I think it is good to say why you dont like something but you need to give a reason why it would be bad in some areas so the modder can try to focus in those areas to make it better...

I beg to differ, Every Sport game I have played recently has had a better PC counterpart, and one thing that PCs have over consoles at the moment is better multiplay and the ability to fix problems with patches.

I agree that console games have the one major advantage of having only one hardware configuration but they are still shrunk down, and in most cases dumbed down PCs. The only problem PCs have is bad ports of console games.

I think we may have a misunderstanding. I am talking about an Arene Football as in american style football played in a hockey rink sized field

Why not make your own kind of American Football game with weird maps like these big ass roads in space where u trough the ball great distances like its a projectile to each of your players.

and as the oponent u can jump the one carrieng the ball =D

Thats one way to go but there is already a great mod out there that is pretty close to what you described with Deathball. The goal of the Mod and I proposing would be get get realism that is close to say Madden or ESPN Football but within the Unreal Technology. I think you could take this one step farther and add some of the little things that those previously mention games lack that is the behind the scenes stuff. Like it you have a complete team of players that like 40 players in a server total, the players not playing could watch the game from the bench just like a real player would, and the level would be designed so that at say halftime and before the game you would "spawn" in the locker room. You could even go as far as giving players "classes" and different abilities. I think that the game could be played in both 1st and 3rd person very easily since you would be using a engine that is designed from that point unlike ESPN where they take a normally rendered game and essentialy attach the camera inside a guys helmet to give you the 1st person look.

I will have to go ahead with the stadium I was working on and get a little proof of concept going. If anyone is interested in helping me out send me a message

i bet makeing big hits in a football mod would be fun. someone could make a football mod useing the same principles as the ios mod.
u join the game and pick a position for offense and defense then u just play it out,
and for playes they could make it so as soon as the play is picked by the QB all of the players see there routes(but the player only sees HIS routes and noone els).
u could make it so the QB has crosshairs
