Hi everyone,

I'd like to introduce our new mod based off of Ultima Online for quake 3, UQO. We are looking for just about every/any position we can find. If you think you can contribute in any way please feel free to get in touch. We already have a weapon modeler(me) and a level designer but more are still welcome. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Now for the info you can visit our main site Sl1pt.com or right here at Moddb.com Also feel free to sign up at our forums for supprt.
And i will also just post what we basicaly want for this mod...

**Note** These are our ideas and may be subject to change at any time**

1) What is Ultima Quake Online?
a. UQO is a quake 3 mod based off of the popular MMORPG Ultima Online

2) What will be featured in UQO, if it’s based off of Ultima Online?
a. We will be recreating Towns, Weapons, Armor and game play using the Quake 3 Engine.

Game play

Skills
1) What kind of skills will be in the mod?
a. Mainly fighting skills will be used in UQO. Mace Fighting (Mauls), Swordsmanship (Swords, Halbred), Archery (bow crossbow) and Fencing (spear, Short Spear). Parrying will also be included. We will also have Magery, 2 Other skill are also planned to be put in the game which are non-fighting and also possibly crafting.

2) If there are skills in UQO, how will we raise them?
a. Well the skill raising won’t quite be like UO but instead, whatever Combat techniques you use, will have 5 levels. Each level increasing the amount of damage that u can deal and heal in a mages case as well. You can achieve the next lvl by killing a certain number of adversaries. We are not sure if other skills will be raisable yet.

3) How do we select skills?
a. Every class has a set skill, for example if you plan to be an Enforcer (which uses maul’s) you will be set with the skill Mace Fighting, and you will be given the option to take other skills ex. hiding, healing etc..

4) What classes will you guys add too UQO?
a. Swordsman (Swordsmanship), Fencer (Fencing), Mace Fighter (Maul Fighting), Archery (Archer) and Mage (Magery).

5) How will the fighting work?
a. Well for melee this is how we imagine it; You mainly have two 2 buttons, attack and defend. While you are defending you cannot be hit from the front, but you cannot fight back while defending. So it would require some good timing to be a good fighter. But with certain weapons you will not be able t block at all, but it would be in exchange for more damage and/or speed. And there is no way to defend against a magic attack if you are a meleer.

6) How will blocking work?
a. All one handed weapons can block each other. Two handed weapons can block one handed weapons. Nothing but a shield can block two handed weapons.

7) Items?
a. When you kill an opponent, you will receive gold which u can build up to buy that nice weapon u wanted or your favorite spell and better yet the regs needed for that spell.

8) Will there be any crafting skills? And if so how will they work?
a. We would like to have them in but its not definite. How they could possibly work is if you choose a crafting skill when u make ur char, you would most likely be able to hit a hotkey to bring up a menu of whatever craft you chose. For example if you are a blacksmith you would need ingots, and to get the ingots you would have to buy them from the buy menu. And then once u create ur weapon you could drop it for a teammate or whoever.

9) With all this talk about items, will we have an inventory?
a. To a certain extent, yes. Once you hit your inventory hotkey a menu would pop up with a list of all the possible items u can collect, and next to the names and/or pictures of the item would be the amount of that item you have.
b. We would also like to implement a system where you can trade/drop items from this list.

10) How will the atmosphere of the game be?
a. We would like the game to be as similar to uo as possible, meaning that we don’t want ppl entering and exiting the servers after 5 minutes. That’s why we have various systems (buy, raise skill, -crafting-) to legthing gameplay. We also want to try and make it so that you don’t have to just run around and kill but be able to hang out with your friends for a bit to chat or whatever.

Thanks in advance.

I liked Ultima Online for its digging skills, and other neat ones that improved when you used them... until I discovered there was a skill limit and I had to start turning other skills DOWN... :O
