Alright well, after -countless- headaches I decided to finally ask for some help :P

However I wasn't exactly sure how to describe my problem, until I decided to do this;

I393.photobucket.com

Basically the issue is with the texture resolution being..strange to say the least. Imported it as a .PSD (1024x1024 - RGB/8Bit) tried changing the LODGroup to TEXTUREGROUP_RenderTarget, tried changing the LODGroup to TEXTUREGROUP_UI, tried -1 on the LODBias (leaving it as World, RenderTarget, and UI), tried downsizing the entire thing; exporting the original .TGA of the UVs out as 512x512; same outcome. Imported it as a .TGA - 24Bit, Imported as .PNG - Non-interlaced; again and again, the same issue kept appearing.

Went through and tried playing it 'Play on PC', 'Play here', and 'Play from here in Viewport', rebuilt the lighting, saved the package and restarted the entire program after changing the LODBias, Etc.

(*Got the ideas for changing the Texturegroup/LODBias from google, pulled from forums like Polycount/UDKs Forums/etc)

(*** I know this is probably a terrible example the use of the map as a whole is bad, should've laid it out differently, etc :P but I did it as a test to demonstrate the issue I'm having on -all- of my textures.)

So I'm stumped, this basically halted all of my progress I was making on a personal project (not a bad thing, still need to work on the most basic things, but still kinda disheartening), ended up going over the Marmoset to do some beauty renders; they turned out -brilliantly- for the most part! That's actually what bothered me the most! The bellow textures are the -exact- same texture, same normal maps, same specular; obviously though I didn't expect the results to be similar in every way, from everything I've seen online marmoset has a small..edge over the UDK when it comes to single object renders, but I didn't expect the results to be so dramatically different.

After seeing this it lead me to believe I was either laying the UVs out funny (and for the most part, I actually was, had issues with pixel concentration/odd stretching/etc due to poor layouts), and then onto me doing something 'wrong' with the textures or how I was importing them; AND THUS..how I ended up here lol. Countless (okay probably not countless, but, a large amount of time) spent digging through various forums, looking at various 'fixes' to the issue, each one leaving me with alittle more of a bad taste in my mouth for the UDK, and my skills in 3D & Texturing.

So, I'm here and more then happy to accept -any- help I can get.

Edit 1; The only thing I could -possibly- imagine it being is a hardware issue, currently running a rather old Radeon HD4350/1GB, updated drivers, DX9.0c (and not that it matters, but mind as well share the rest of my tech specs just incase it -does- and I'm being an idiot, running an AMD Athlon 64x2 running at 3.1-3.2Ghz, DDR2-800 4GB)

It looks like the textures are falling back to a low-resolution mip-map (this is done on a hardware level), but in all honesty, I couldn't come up with a reason why it's doing that.

Well thanks for giving it a look, the only thing I can imagine it being is hardware or OS related :S I have an old Nvidia 8800GTX laying about someplace -and- I've been meaning to upgrade to seven (last OS I bought well..it was Vista, we'll leave it at that.) so I'll see if I can throw those in, give it a whirl. Wouldn't be surprised if it works to be honest; this GPU has -always- given me issues with upgrading the drivers and I can only imagine it having fucked up someplace causing the issues I'm having now.

Still though, if anyone else has any ideas, more then happy to hear them; would rather have a workaround then upgrade my hardware (seeing as I only do this as a hobby).

I remember one bug like this, but I can't find it in google. I vaguely remember it being caused by using the same material on static and skeletal meshes in the same scene, but I can't trust that memory 100%.

Yeah out of curiosity I packed up my meshes and textures and installed the UDK on a friends computer, imported it and everything works perfectly :S Well, its a relief that its not my textures, sadly it means I need to upgrade my system.

Thanks for the help though guys, seriously, glad to know it wasn't just me being stupid over some little setting lol.
