How do you guys come up with titles? Does a title really make any difference to how people view the mod? Will a bad title turn you away? Will a good title make you look more carefully at the mod in question? |

Well titles dont neccesairly make or break your mod, but it does add some good appeal toward the mod. --

I dunno? tell you what, if you had to pick one mod to play for the next 2 months, wich mod from this list would you pick? Barney the dinosaur mod for the Sims Choosing one out of 4 mods is easy, but what made you pick the Claudia Schiffer mod? the title? -- Shoot them all, Let God sort them out! |

To tell you the truth, I'd play none of those, and would rather go play a game. I don't know any situation where you'd HAVE to play a mod, to tell you the truth. Although, the Power Ranger one sounds cool... But you just have to really think hard about the title. Will it give away too much if you use a character from the game? Or will you think outside of the box and come up with a name that covers something on a completely different scale? Resident Evil, for example, means that the town's citizens turn into zombies, so literally, the residents are becoming evil. It's also a catchy name that people can really remember. Same with names like Silent Hill, Metroid, Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, Grand Theft Auto... Sometimes, the hardest part of the mod-making process (at least the conceptual stage) is coming up with a name, and that can take a while. But once you have one, you just feel satisfied that the name itself will be quite helpful. -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

Mods with simpler and more powerful names are more effective and easy to remember. --

I don't think that's the point he was trying to make. Also, for a title.... A title usually reflects your theme (as many of you who attended highschool and/or are currently attending).A title can be concise or be ridiculously long, but overall it should reflect your overall idea. Also, if you can make it catchy AND go with a theme, then you get kudos. -- When there is no more room in Hell, the Dead will walk the Earth. chis wrote: |

Using powerful words that reflect your mod in some abstract and obscure way often work best... COunter-Strike and Half-Life are both amazing names for games, as are Quake (Doom's a little cliche now) and Far Cry. I use Mercury Sky for my mod, which I'm very happy with. And generally it's a bad idea to use the words Operation or WWII in your mod's name. |
