Holy cow! What are those ads? :o My first thought was "Where does this end?" and I was wondering where to click at to not get redirected to some autodesk site. But seriously, why are the ads bigger than the actual site content? |

I don't find these adds annoying, and, frankly, these ones referring to modeling programs are quite eye-appealing as well. I have never clicked on them by accident. The only things I do find annoying are pop-up and sound ads. And thanks to the staff, I've never seen one of the mentioned for quite a long time now. -- Creator of the Half Life 1 mod Deflections. |

These ads are relevant and don't play videos? I think they are perfectly fine. We sacrifice a lot of revenue to not run malicious, loud, irrelevant ads. Happy to listen to feedback if you disagree -- Scott Reismanis |

INtense! wrote: It's really awesome that you do that! Don't get me wrong here, there are much more annoying ads - I was just surprised at the size of them. It's a bit weird that there is one huge ad - bigger than actual site content - on every corner of the screen. But I appreciate your choice of ads, cause the "normal" ones that are displayed on here are quite informing and really decent. |

Thanks for understanding, it takes a lot to run ModDB/IndieDB and at the moment ads are our only primary revenue stream. We also have subs but unfortunately it doesn't cover anywhere near enough. -- Scott Reismanis |

As far as I can tell, they fill the space between the formatted moddb site & the edge of your browser window. Every time I see they Maya add it reminds me of when Maya was a set fee & that was it, no monthly plans. -- Go play some Quake 2: q2server.fuzzylogicinc.com |

These ad's help moddb operate and function. I see nothing wrong with them, half the time the ad's are for MODDB itself or affiliated websites. s\or download adblock .. if it come's down to it with money to support the site, Moddb should allow game development groups to purchase a "Showcase time stamp" were their game is first on the list and is highlighted for so many days above other mod's. Sort of like a payment for top advertisement. -- 3DS Max Modeler. Sound Designer. Game/Mod Enthusiast. -Polyesta |

Appreciate your support Polyesta it costs a lot to do 5000mbps which is what we average! We have 12+ servers running moddb and ads are how we survive. We'd like to explore other options however and your suggestion sounds like an interesting one. Thou we want all developers to have equal opportunty to reach an audience -- Scott Reismanis |

INtense! wrote: True, that would buy bigger indie companies a huge advantage over e.g. one-man studios. Do the subscribers already have a privilege at downloading stuff? If not you could offer them faster download speeds or prioritize their website experience (faster upload, faster page load). And what about a small advantage of subscribers at authorizing their articles, files, etc. like them getting top priority? Btw is there a page where all the donators/supporters can be looked up (and maybe filtered by who gives the most money). There should also be the option to donate a custom amount of money and to do so every month (additional to annualy). Furthermore, you should be able to do a one time donation! - I don't know if you can do so because I literally didn't find any donate or help page by googling With that being said: don't hide it so much. Maybe put a link down in the footer or create a dedicated donation page. |

I agree with Phoenix1747. Make the donation system a bit easier to use. A small button in each member's profile, which button only said member can see and use. Right now donators must contact the staff itself, which is a bit tiresome to do. Not to mention that almost no one knows about this. Well, as INtense said, ModDB is all about equality, so I don't believe giving subscribers faster download speeds is a solution, nor giving them authorization powers. -- Creator of the Half Life 1 mod Deflections. |

We probably should make donations more prominent and good, because at the moment it is basically just a small thing for adblock users who still want to support us, by paying $10 a year to disable ads. -- Scott Reismanis |
