Hello everyone! My name is Job_314, and I am currently the modification leader over at The Survivors. The Survivors tosses the player into a modern environment located somewhere in a fictional location of the UK. As hordes of infected spew onto your position, it's up to you defend your fortification with a small group of individuals that are armed with nothing more than pistols, blunt objects, shotguns, and the will to survive. The player will rely on his team if he wishes to survive, the infected move quickly, but The Survivors can repel them if they stick together and focus all their effort on teamwork. Minimize your defensive positions, slap another magazine into that Colt .45, and prepare to barricade the gates of hell in a final attempt to prevent further spread of the virus. DO NOT SEND ME PMs! Contact me by other means! You're welcome to e-mail at Austinolson@gmail.com! Check out the site here, and send in and application, we need the help! We are in dire need of skinners and mappers. Yeah, but unlike most, he has content beyond a poorly written story. -- Pez says: |

Yes, that is certainly true. Perhaps if it's done well this could rise above the heap of failed zombie mods. -- Defeat in Detail 2 - Standalone RTS Game |

Infected aren't zombies.. But yeah, they look a lot like them, though.. ;P Infected are still normal human beings who are infected with a disease called "Rage". The infection makes them go berserk and slaughter anyone near them who isn't infected. Usually, they feast on their victims in an orgy of violence, but this isn't obligatory. They don't need human flesh for survival, or anything. They can be killed like any other human being, so no bullets to the head, etc. Technically speaking, chopped off limbs also aren't possible, as the infected would bleed to death. Infected are humans who are still alive but have a disease. They aren't dead and also haven't risen from the dead, so to speak. Because infected are still humans, they can also run, scream and whatever. In other words, infected are an ideal and fairly realistic replacement for zombies. (Making a virus that would cause humans to go berserk should be possible. In fact, some diseases already have mild berserkness (word?) as a symptom..) Another neat feature: just like humans, infected die from hunger if they don't eat. Meanwhile; I don't know THAT much about copyright laws, but by having some of the same elements (infected, UK-setting, similar weaponry (machetes, etc.)) it might be possible that Universal could Fox you. Of course, like said, I don't know a whole lot about copyright laws, but you might want to check that out. |

The nature of the infection that put them into an angry trance type state is what still allows them to be classified as zombies. Remember their roots in voodoo mythology. A zombie is ultimately created by giving the host a strong nueral toxin/ hallucinogen with a more specific name that escapes me at the moment that places the user into a trance allowing the power of suggestion to be heightened. Because of their origin in voodoo mythos, zombies... A.) Don't have to eat flesh. and/or B.) Don't have to be dead. and/or C.) They don't have to be infected with a virus. But they can be. EDIT: And didn't Fox Searchlight produce 28 Days Later when it was released in the states? Edited by: Chaossaber314 -- Pez says: |

Ah yes, very good points about zombies... I didn't think of it like that.. I suppose I'm too obsessed with the George Romero type zombies.. And I checked it and it indeed was Fox Searchlight. But I suppose that only brings more power to the word foxed.. |
