A Space Oddessey 2001. The 5th Element. The One. The Matrix. Hell, even the Jetsons and Futurama.

All these programs show the future. When is this future coming? I want to Tony Hawk on a Hoverboard, go on a date in my Air Saturn Ion, have a vacation on a Moon resort, and go to work in an underwater biosphere. Are people even trying to make these dreams come true? I heard about a car that runs on water and has a joystick for a steering wheel. I thought that was really cool and maybe the next step into technology. I have yet to anymore on the subject which leads me to belive that maybe my mind fabricated the idea up to give me piece of mind on this subject. But maybe, just maybe the future is alot closer than I think. In WIRED Magazine (August 2003), page 94 talks about 'Super Hero Powers' (X-Ray Vision, Regeneration, Total Recall, Teleportation, Weather Control, Force Fields, Underwater Breathing, and Super Strength) and how scientist are actually coming out with positive results on each one. Yet, we won't see anything of these 'powers' in our lifetime, hell not even in our kids' lifetime. What about Robots that do house work? Virtual Reality? Would'nt you love to play your favorite PC or Console like it was happening right outside your front lawn? Online? I do and I am tired of waiting. I predict (and God willing) I have about 50-70 more years of life in me. Hopefully I'll see some progress.

What are your thoughts.

Well there was a car recently slated for production that can drive out into the water, tuck the wheels, and drive like a boat - except it has a wheel not a joystick.

The Moller company has recently begun taking orders for their Moller Skycar, which is a skypod with wheels and invertable engines that can lift off from a standing position and blast you through the sky, just like the Jetsons. It even has GPS tracking so you can type in a position and shoot straight there, the landing is up to you though. I have a photo of it from a magazine, it's fuckin awesome.

I don't know when this future is going to be here, everyone thought 50 years ago that by the year 2000 we'd be living on Mars. Technology has been growing exponentionally, but many of those fanciful aspects of daily life won't be a standard for probably centuries.

So they are trying to make hovering cars? unforutnaly i dont see that going very far n the public :P

Sep 17 2003 Anchor

Why not? It works just fine, they have several functioning prototypes and orders are already flooding in. What makes you skeptical? The technology has been within our grasp for years now, it just took someone the dedication to make it work.

New things are exciting and controversial for a few weeks, maybe even months, and then the mainstream accepts them and the shine is gone.

exactly... unless they create something like the holo deck in star trek  then there is endless possibilities :D
