Tiberium Wars is the next incarnation, and even though it's probably going to be dire, I don't think there's anyone who won't buy it. But yeah, I know waht you mean - I already spend far too much time working on projects here and there as it is |

I'm not too wild on the choice of colors in the new versions. Too many colors is distracting, particularly in the case of a 3D perspective game where there may be many objects that the player needs to track on screen. Small highlights of differing color are OK, but I think the colorized Bulldog needs more unity in the color scheme or it'll simply over-dominate any scene it ends up being rendered in. -- Icemage |

fair point icemage, I'd actually like to dull them down from what they are at the moment so it still looks garish but more weathered and less artifical. less like it had just been painted those colours half an hour ago. If it was going to be modelled and skinned into a game then that would be what I'd try to get across to the skinner. If it dominates the scene then i've kindve achieved my aim, since the faction it belongs to are a bunch of garish holligans with abysmal dress and colour sense. I want it to look out of place and frankly rather stupid, because thats part of the look of the faction. |

Nah, short barreled cannons exist too, and for a reason. Although there's an appreciable drop in range and accuracy, the alternate shell and cannon types will reduce recoil and allow the weapon for be more easily fired on the move |

The name isnt hard and fast, and I prefer the name Tarantula because its more unique than Scorpion which has been applied to countless vechiles and weapons systems. I'm not even really sure why I called this version Scorpion because thinking about it there was no reason too...the tank even resembles a Tarantula more than a Scorpion...yeah recon I'll change it back. As for the short barrel I just wanted something that looked a bit diffrent and that fitted with the swept back shape of the tank, a longer barrel would've ruined in the look in my opinion. Intresting that shortened barrels make for reduced recoil. The approximate concept behind the weapon (science aside) was that it would be a two stage munition, primarily a projectile which would pierce the targets armour, and secondly an energy beam that would inflict the real damage to the interior and crew. The tank would have to remain aimed at the same spot for a longer length of time than with a more conventional gun, so maybe I'll tie that reduced recoil aspect into it All these tanks are essentially designed for an urban combat mod, and so are either dedicated to or variants suited for urban combat with the accompanying short ranges. Being able to engage a target a kilometre away wouldnt be essential either from a gaming or background point of view. All your comments have been great so far guys, I'm not sure you realise how much this is helping me. besides the technical and drawing information its really intresting to hear peoples reactions. |
