We do not support the modding of console games, as it is illegal.

For the PC games, we will consider them. However, there is really no reason to add all these games until there are those that come with a mod for a game that's not in the system.

alright, but how is it illegal? i have played some mods for Metroid Prime Hunters b4, not 1's ive downloaded, but ones other people did using DS Download Play, and then they put them online

Jan 19 2007 Anchor

Because most of the time it's against the developer's EULA to do so. We are a PC game mod oriented site, so even if there was proof for certain games that it is legal, that's not our forté.

Hope you understand.

You should take a look at the current game list first, seeing how a lot of those games you mentioned are already here..

Spectre VR moddable? As if. (No, changing the only wall texture used in gameplay isn't really a mod)

Runescape modding? What moddability comes from a JAVA online game?

Do you even know what modding is? (See "I am new to mods" guide on front page)

Actually, Chunky, the only game he mentioned that's on ModDB is Freespace 2 and Descent 2. That's it.

EDIT: And if you cut those off and get rid of the expansion packs he mentioned (expansion packs don't really do much of anything to how moddable a game's engine is), as well as Runescape since it's illegal to mod an online game, you get:

Warcraft 1
SWAT 3
Diablo 1
Mechwarrior 2
Spectre VR
Total Annihilation Kingdoms
Blade Mistress
Descent
Descent Freespace
Theatre of War
Moola
Civilization 2
Hot Wheels Crash
Planet Hotwheels
Sub Command
The Sum of All Fears

..... basically, 16 of the original 23 games mentioned. If you can lure modders to this site who have mods for these games, we will definitely add these games to the database. For now, that'd just be empty space.

Ohh my bad. I skimmed through it quickly and thought he was talking about World of Warcraft and Swat 4. I also thought Diablo 1 was here, but I guess only Diablo 2 is.

The Sum of all Fears? Are you kidding me? Prove that there's a single mod out there for it.

No use in adding Descent Freespace. The modded Source code for FS2 known as SCP covers it all now. They have also ported Freespace and Silent Threat into the FS2 engine.

Probably because they are both pleasant folks, and smart folks. They've gained more from the positive PR gained by opening up the code than they would from the sales to the four or five people interested in such an old game who don't already own a copy.
