Got this today:
This is the first spam that Google Mail has not filtered in about 4 months. Which i think is really good, considering i display my email (without [at]s or [dots]) everywhere I loved the sound of Nora so much, i emailed her back asking to be my life partner. She said yes |

I just got the exact same thing, i'm actually pretty scared that theres some 45 year old pedo e mailing me under the guise of a young girl. Also its pretty sick since im 18 and shes coming on to me and is allegedly 15 or something, these emails annoy the hell out of me, you guys can have Nora lmao. -- (Zero Punctuation review on Guitar Hero 3) "STOP! do not reach for e-mail client I do not want to hear about how you five starred Raining Blood on expert because if you did your a freak! I also received this email From: Nora Utazi (nora_25utazi@yahoo.com)
The administrators of ModDB should atleast invesitgate this and warn their users. You can tell that this bot is a Philiphine, Chinese, or African scammer by the terrible grammar they use. They are farming ModDB emails. Edited by: NullSoldier |

Yep this is going to happen to anyone who has their emails available on their profiles. Its a rule of thumb on the internet and you should all be aware of, if you don't want to have your email out in the open like this we just ask that you don't have it visible on your profiles. You can change this within your profile settings. --

I'm only fourteen, and this seems to bother me.
EDIT: I just got another just now, so make that three
I think Moddb administrators need to take action, as email is the only way I can sometimes deal with people who need help installing my mod (And who don't want to create a Moddb profile just to get help installing a mod) DOUBLE EDIT: They're the same flipping person!

But what action could they take? If you need your email to be publicly available you have to accept that any member of the public can use it, for reasons good or bad. -- "lets say Portal is a puzzle game, so its a rehash of Tetris" |

I've set my email to hidden hopefully I shouldn't get any more. Though, I did get a new one before I set it to hidden.

I've had it before. It's just spam. If you're email address is out there in the public eye (or even not, randomly generated addresses can also be yours..), you're going to recieve spam. It's as old as the mainstream public internet itself. |

Nora you WHORE! I had no idea you would go to everyone's email, I thought we had something special. There are plenty of protections you (moddb) can provide for your users moreso than just saying "your email is public". Perhaps moddb should look into some? Edited by: GiffE |

Posting confidential information like contact details is something YOU should be aware of when using the internet. --

Yes but I didn't know that by posting my email to let my modplayers know how to contact me meant getting annoying spam. Oh well. I'll just put it in the readme. -- Gunslinger's Academy - Modern Warfare Mod for Jedi Academy |

I am also getting these stupid spam emails. I got one from Nora, one from Giftbaby, one from Elvinbaby and more. It's freaking annoying! I'll see if hiding my email and not responding will make the person think he/she or whatever it is leave me alone. -- Can you tell me doctor why I still can't get to sleep? |

Never gotten an email yet and my email address is on 100's of sites . Gmail does a good job of filtering this stuff out for me. And the moddb staff already told you what to do if you are getting these. There is nothing else they can really do about it. |

Why hasn't Nora ever emailed me? I feel so unwanted, unlovable and obsolete now! @Eezstreet - The user ie. Nora or whoever, might be using an internet provider that issues Dynamic IP's as standard to it's customers! This is unfortunately quite common with ISP's these days! Basically it means that a customer of the provider never has the very same IP address everytime they restart their connect. For example, the ISP I am using issues Dynamic IP's... If my IP now was xxx.xxx.xxx.x1, The next time I restart my router it could be xxx.xxx.xxx.12. If the above is the case, then it isn't illegal at all! EDIT: Damn... You edited before I quit typing! lolz. Edited by: Orion |

Not a troll, just a Nigerian scammer. When I'm really bored, I just email them back with a secondary email account. Raise their hopes a bit that someone is actually going to send them money. Then dash them by sending other things. Or annoy them by sending them something that is so riddled with broken english that not even a lolcat could understand it. Edited by: Cryrid |

I know, I was tracing them funny or something (I was tracing Yahoo email servers instead of the actual IP) Now if I could send the person something...hmm... Why am I thinking a pair of scissors that are glued shut? BTW, Orion holy crap you use a lot of !s EDIT:BTW, I don't think 213.xxx is a result of a dynamic IP...idk though Edited by: eezstreet |

Easy answer... Create a new Gmail or Hotmail account just to use when dealing with these scam artists! Like Cryrid said, all you'd have to do is send them the new email addy for them to respond to! And yes... I love my !'s...!!!!!!! |

If I get one of these I am just going to reply with a link to something.on.nimp.org, which should be avoided at all costs. It opens several browser windows, each displaying a shock site, the windows move around so they are hard to close, and in the background there is an audio clip of a guy saying something loud and annoying. I have never been there but I pranked one of my e-friends with it, in addition to looking it up via Google. [ADDED] Apparently it is a mirror of the GNAA's "Last Measure" site. For those who do not know what the GNAA is (Including me up until about 5 minutes ago) go here: Wikitruth.info (Contains vulgar words) Edited by: RandomusIdiotus |
