I've found a mentor for both mapping and modeling (I won't be doing any research on game art). If you would like to be my mentor just in case things don't work out between he and I then send me an email (yarow12@gmail.com) and I'll keep you listed.
Also, if you have any previous work that you believe I may be able to show in my presentation please send images/videos of them to me.

Do us both a favor and read everything. The Letter of Intent isn't necessary to be read. It's just there.

If this is too long and you're too s*** lazy to read it, just know that I am looking for someone to mentor me for a minimum of five hours on one or more of the following: graphic art, visual art, concept art, mapping, modeling, composing, and writing.

The project requires that I have a mentor, sessions with him/her, and record the time, date, and length of them. For the sessions, I plan to do video chats (camcord) and/or regular chat sessions. I am doing the project on how RPG's are created (can be changed). Below is my Letter of Intent and Proposal to help you better understand what I am doing.

Dear Mrs. Simmons,

I have decided to do my Senior Project on “Creating RPG’s”. “RPG” is an acronym for Role Playing Game. For the most part, it’s very time consuming seeing as how it requires so much dedication as well as experience to complete. Let alone properly. I chose this as my area of interest because I am interested in making videos games. However, I am not sure what part of “making” them I’d like to get into.
The creating of RPG’s involve not only Animators and Graphic Artists, but Scripters, Writers, Concept Artists, Developers, Visual Artists, Spriters, Mappers, Testers, Composers, etc. The Animator creates animation effects. The Graphic Artists make and edit various things such as the Character Portraits, HUD (Heads-up Display), and Logo. Scripters use a scripting language to create events such as battles, conversations, and pop-ups. Writers not only write stories and ideas but also correct grammar when necessary. Concept Artists convey visual representations of designs and ideas. Developers basically run the show and keep everything in check. Visual Artists illustrate what they see in the world to be used in the game. Spriters make sprites for characters, tiles, etc. Mappers create maps of the game. Testers “test” the game while it’s in development to help the creators understand what might need to be further done. Composers “compose” music and songs for the game.
As far as resources go, I plan to utilize the game that I am working on and advice from people who have experience working with RPG’s.
My physical project will be a well organized compilation of not only footage created by myself but me speaking while it plays behind me. I plan to get a hold of a few people that I have conversed with over forums and see which of them would have the time to assist me with my project over the internet and as my mentor. I don’t believe that this project will cost me anything to accomplish. I might need to use Developer Diaries from certain developers that I have been observing as a resource.. This will be a professional explanation on particular details in creating an RPG.
Creating an RPG will definitely take plenty of time from my life especially since I’m going at it alone. This will, however, make me feel surer about whether or not I’d like to make video games a part of my career.
One mistake that I can make is to delay the progress of my project. Doing so will only decrease the amount of time that I will have to finish it. I might even end up rushing during the last three days. This will most likely show since the project will require not only dedication but time and persistence as well. Worst of all, points are deducted when it is turned in after the deadline. I’d be a fool not to keep up with my Senior Project.

How is an RPG Created?

My objective is to research and discuss particular efforts and time that is involved in creating RPG’s, or role-playing games, particular things such as graphic art, visual art, concept art, mapping, modeling, composing, and writing which is what I will be focusing on.

I do not yet know who will be involved, but I will attempt to obtain needed information from him/her through contact over the Internet such as messengers and video chat sessions. Learning this information to enhance and perfect what I already know will be a challenge because the people who hear my request for a mentor might not choose to be one. The project might cost a total of a few weeks in time, but no money. The final product will be a compilation of various demonstrations of people acting out the particular jobs that are being an artist, mapper, modeler, composer, and writer.

After finishing my research paper, I will have to put more time and effort into organizing and creating a presentation. “How is an RPG created” is the title of my project. I will be searching for the following data or information:

* What efforts go into creating, designing, drawing, and implementing characters into an RPG.
* What efforts go into creating professional maps.
* What efforts go into composing, or organizing, music.
* What efforts go into writing dialogue as well as a story.

I have yet to find the right mentor for my research, but when I do I plan to organize certain times of everyday that we can consult through either typed chat sessions of video chat sessions.

Plagiarism is the use or close imitation of the words and ideas of another and the representation of them as one's own original work. Plagiarism, to me, is the act of copying another’s work and claiming it as one’s own. The ultimate repercussions of plagiarism may vary. Loss of work, an “F”, expulsion from school, loss of reputation, and lawsuits are all possible among other things. I, Elijah Triche, will not plagiarise my report or falsify information in any way.

Who's willing to assist me with this project? How much of the information do you know? It's okay if you don't know it all. As long as you know something in particular, I can manage. Something in particular like drawing characters and modeling them, composing music and writing plots, and mapping and scripting. It would be great if you (or anyone else for that matter) could, at some point, offer me a recording of you doing your thing (like a timelapse). The project will be due some time next school year (when I'm a Senior). The presentation, I believe, will be up to five minutes long and presented to members of the community. Yay.

I will be posting this on another website just to let you all know.

EDIT: I might skip over the scripts and codes part.
EDIT: I can easily change the title to "How is a FPS Created?" and such. The project is due next school year. Because of this, and other factors, I'd like to take it easy with the mentoring during this school year, and go over time with the during the summer. However, things will have to be talked with whoever I choose as a mentor. Meh.
EDIT: The mentor needs to spend a minimum of five total (not five hours straight) hours with me total regarding information for my project. That's it, that's all that I want. Is anyone available? If so, for what particular topics (scripting, mapping, etc.)?
