is that the mod that was oginally maps from HL2 DM because it sounds familiar and i know what you mean theough that part didn't scare me since i was playing the HL2 DM version with 2 canadains who kept yelling in the mics and it replaced all the zombies and ghosts with headcrabs

I've never really been "scared" from a video game, I just like the parts where suspense builds up from the in-game music and environment then something jumps out nowhere. I've had moments like that from Condemned, maybe once from Fatal Frame. I'm currently playing F.E.A.R plus I just got Silent Hill 2 and Doom 3 so I'll be checking those out fairly soon. This looks to be a great year for survival horror fans though, personally I am definitely looking forward to Silent Hill Homecoming, Dead Space, Left 4 Dead, Project Origin and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky.

I have 3

1: I forgot the name but my brother gota game for dreamcast i think idk. but throuout the game it would go blank. like it would literatly turn your screen off. and sometimes the sound would go extremely loud right when something was about to happen. scariest game EVER.

2: resident evil: code veronica WTF is up with the giant purple spiders?!?!?!

3: jak 2. i know ure like lmao ure scared of jak2? but i swear to god on that part with giant spider running after you with daxter man. that was some scary crap. I fell down right when it jumped up ( on the part where u hop from web to web ) so it looked like it flew through my screen. took me 2 seconds to realise i was scared and that was the first and last time i will ever scream likea  girl in my life o.o

Alone in the Dark was kinda scary when you're a kid, but everythings really silly looking.

Blood and Killing time were oldschool, and I thought they were spooky back in the day.

Also, as a kid, one game that got me spooked was Quest for Glory 4, especially when its late at night and you forgot to put the darkone sign in the door and the hectapod eats you :-()

I saw some mods being mentioned, but no one mentioned Aom:DC. I'm sure that scared some people?

man I'm living in a nightmare since I started that mod :)
Can't stand dark areas no more!!!

Scariest moment was in the hospital after you shut the track power down and make the first encounter... I thought:"ok maybe some zombie", but I'm still scared of those things, they're very well assembled (voices, movement speed and textures T_T)...

I thought the game sucked but STALKER in the labs scared me or that sea monster in Half-Life when the cage dropped down :'( Then you were confronted by another one in the hydro dam thing later on in the game.

The Suffering was scary as hell. Especially the moment when a Slayer came out of the darkness slowly grinding his knife-hand on the wall... a terrible sound! :paranoid:

metal gear solid 2. when you find out the colonel is really a computer simulation, then he starts wiggin out. creepiest shit, i shouldn't have played that game so late at night those days lol

also, i thought time splitters was pretty spooky. in a weird twisted sense, when you think about the game and its style too hard haha. plus the zombie mansion levels were INTENSE.

Modern games arent scary. You can put there a any monsters like zombies , ghosts or what ever you want , you can make atmosphere as dark as possible and i can still play the game at night and all alone. No big deal.I tryied doom 3 , F.E.A.R. , Stalker and its prequel Clear Sky and Doom series all alone.I can walk into any room or into any enemy and i feel nothing.I cant remember when i was last scared in any game. The suffering was boring , by the way.Just another corridor shooter.

Set the difficulty on very hard, add surround sound system, dark room, nighttime and there you have it: soon you'll be shitting bricks of fear.

Stalker isn't about delivering scares from start to finish, but some parts are pure paranoia and panic. I rate those places as some of the most atmospheric and unnerving experiences I've experienced in a game :)

Its not that i dont appreciate them , not being scared doesnt mean you dont value them. Its that first of i understand its just a game where i can jump off the bridge and die and come back to life and besides all these monsters there arent real. And second i can shoot back and take them down.In fact most monsters are piece of cake to take down , well almost all are.Third , i just got used to , i mean whats the "scariest" thing that can happen ? That zombie will jump out of corner and hit me or that giant monster will step on me ? But dont forget that even if it happens , im safe away from this all because they cant reach outside the monitor :D

How ever closest thing of scariness is an empty abandoned city/building that is dark and has all sorts of scary sounds happening around , but nobody is ever seen even if you walk around for an hours. How ever its not scary , its just interesting experience.

I'd say in STALKER SOC, the brain scorcher bunkers X18 and up didn't scare me at all. I was scared in Lab X16 though. There were 2 snorks down there. I was in this room where there were 2 doors both very dark. I heard a noise coming from one entrance and aimed my L85. To my suprise the other snork pounced on me from the other entrance. So already near dead I swung my gun around to engage the one attacking me, the other one attacked me from the entrance that i was previously aimming at. Didn't make it out of that bunker that day...... :dead:

The Hidden: Source really gives me the creeps just because of the fact that in that mod some psycho is after you and he has a knife. That really may happen in real life too. Last year dangerous loonie got away from asylum in nearby city and he was known for trying to kill people and thus moving at night gave you shivers. They catched him after a few days of freedom. This year one managed to break out, stole a car, drove it through the whole city recklessly, crashing through gardens of homes, through the park and in the end got back to the asylum and crashed into gas station right over the road of asylum. Luckily she didn't kill or hurt anyone.

I know someone who went to grab some milk after playing FEAR at 1am, he got spooked by the clothes line and accidently smashed his mum's dishes. lol
