Hey Guys,

I've been playing fighting games on and off for some time, it's just something different every now and then.

I've had a concept for some time now, that really came about after playing Demon Souls.

I'd love to see a fighter that has a stamina mechanic; this depletes as you attack and defend.
- Stamina effects your damage output. So a drained stamina bar results in very low damage.
- If your stamina bar is low, you'll take more damage.

I'd love to see a fighter that has a gear and inventory system, that has a weight system.
- You can put as much armour as you want on, but similarly to any game, the more you wear, the heavier you are, the more stamina you use.
- You can hold items, such as throwing knives or similar objects (that have a set number).

Much the same as making a character in Soul Calibur, you can adopt a style of another pre-existing character.
But instead, I'd like to see fighting styles and stances constructed from the weapons you choose.

For example, a katana wielding character would have access to 3 appropriate stances.
Stances provide different move sets, and you can mix them up to keep another player guessing, some may be better at defending/countering etc.

I think this would result in a ranged approach to gameplay, as opposed to punish and continually juggle.
I think you would end up with matches that continually change pace.

Punishing would be more painful in this though, as attacking an opponent lowers Stamina, and therefore leaves you with lowered defence.
This is basically where counters would shine and you could pop out some Bushido Blade style, with 1 or 2 timely placed shots to get a KOs.

Grapples would depend on your stamina to preform.

Blocking reduces Stamina more or less the same speed as attacking, but the longer you attack with no stamina the longer it takes to replenish.
So it can go into negative values, but would be effective for finishing opponents etc

You'd have matches where people are actually concerned to attack, or be attacked by an opponent.

Basically I'd like to see a Bushido Blade, Demon/Dark Souls, Tekken, Soul Calibur hybrid :P

Anyone know any similar? If so, does this mechanic work?
