Well I'm thinking about getting a psp and I heard it was best to buy an older model and change out some stuff (namely the screen, battery, etc.) but I havent the slightest idea so any suggestions?

I would recommend not modifying it and buying a newer one.

If you buy an older model and decide to modify it without the slightest idea of what your doing, you may damage it and you also void the warrant for opening it, leaving you with a broken PSP and a wad of cash missing.

okay before you do any thing (i know this post is a bit late)
BUY THE 3000 PSP NOT THE PSP GO
at first it was only possible to "mod" the 1000 and 2000 but someone managed to do it with the 3000
these are firmware or software mods that allow you to play homebrew games (emulators or even quake on the psp) or even official psp games from your memo stick
i dont know anything about needed hard ware changes but firmware hacking opens up the psp to many many more possibilities
the psp go  blocks out these mods
i suggest making a post on this site in their forum
Psp-hacks.com

ask what firmware hacks are available
and ask which one would be the best for you and how to install it without your psp becoming a brick (no literally if you stuff up your psp becomes as useful as a brick) dont worry they know what they are doing

Hah, of course you can change the battery, and screen. Not very hard to be honest. IF you want to buy a PSP and mod its casing or screens, (possible LED mods) make sure your read a tutorial, cuz you could get into a cluster fck.

yeah Ive already checked Acidmods for tutorials and cases but they don't have any in stock
the only thing that need to be replaced now is the case which i ordered off eBay my only concern is that its from china and i dont want it to be a really bad quality one
