I was reading a discussion I found a couple of days ago and it caught my attention. Someone uploaded his first ever created custom story for Amnesia. It was pretty bad, like a majority of first created stories by new authors.

One critic said, in the end of his comment, something like this: "I spent 10 months of my story. It looks like you spent two days on yours. 10 months should be a minimum, otherwise it turns out like this".
One guy tried to reason with him and said "the time spent on a story does not matter at all. It's the quality on it. Do you rate stories based on the time spent om them? So if one story is really great, but he did not spend X amount of time on it, should it be rated with a low score?"

And I agree with him. The time don't matter at all. I made a story in one month and it was rated pretty good. I spent 2.5 months on my latest story and it's twice as long. Some people spend 5 months on their stories, but then it turns out they are extremely bad with huge bugs in them. And who knows, perhaps they never spent 5 months on it. They just took a long break from it? One story was actually created in 24 hours (it was a group of people, but still) and it was a great one!

Edit: Since you people must be so
ridiculously pernickety

So my POLL is as following:
(Please select one option only)

Question 1: Gender

1: Male
X: Female
2: I don't want to tell you

Question 2: What is most important? <----- MY MAIN QUESTION

1: Time spent on the mod is most important
X: Quality is most important
2: Both are important

There you go! A real poll! YEEEES :D

Excuse me for my english, but I hope and think you understand it pretty well anyways ;)

Quality is always more important than how long you spend on something. Minecraft was created in under a year and most companies spend more than 3 years developing an engine/game yet there are still bugs.

Agreed. Minecraft is not the best game when it comes to graphics and such things, but not many bugs in that game compared to the more advanced games

Generally I look for poll questions that support something more then two answers.

Quality, as always. That' my take on it.

Also, strangely enough, there's no real poll here.

I am a young Asian male human being...

But really on the main question it's a mixed bag for me. Time does bring out quality. Rush a project and its due failure. Too much time(for me) usually as I've seen brings some revisions. Duke Nukem Forever for example, took over ten years to release; however, it really didn't meet expectations as I recalled.

Well, some authors are good enough to bring quality within a short period of time. But those games/mods are usually really short ofcourse.
And over 10 years? I'm used to 1-4 years but 10? And I still don't think Nuke is the best looking game, not even close.
