Whenever I play Paranoia on Direct 3d, it doesn't use the special effects like bump mapping.

But also when I try activating Open GL mode, a window pops saying that it doesn't support
the mode and will switch to Software mode (Which sucks). It happens with every HL mod actually.

My graphics card is an intel GMA 950 (Graphics Media Accelerator).

The details on Intel's specification are rather sketchy, but I'm not convinced that chipset (it's not a card - it's integrated) has any real support for current versions of OpenGL;

Quote:OpenGL* 1.4 support plus ARB_vertex_buffer and EXT_shadow_funcs extensions and TexEnv shader caching

OpenGL is up to version 3.2 by now. I wouldn't be surprised if those mods make use of an OpenGL revision later than 2.1, which had some important revisions and added GLSL; which is what would be used for those special effects.

So its actually my chipset that can't support Open GL, right?

I believe so, yes. You may want to pick up a cheap proper graphics card.

Paranoia is designed for OpenGL, nothing else unfortunately. Besides, HL runs best at OpenGL anyway, so you're probably just out of luck.

And that also means I wont get the best out of the upcoming Cry of Fear mod. Thats just damn great...
