Most of you Morrowind lovers should know about the up coming Oblivion game made by Bethesda Softworks. Much to modders delight along with the game they are releasing a construction set much like the one that came with Morrowind.

My idea is to create a world away from the land that oblivion will be set in. Sort of like a total conversion except dialogue will indicate of a the land and blah blah blah (In simple terms both places will be known in the 'total conversion' but you just can’t get there, if that makes sense). Anyway in this different world you can get jobs (eg. farmer), go on hunting trips with your mates, get married, have kids ;) , go fishing anything you do in real life... back in medieval fantasy times. There will be a HELL of a lot of scripting in this mod/plug-in/total conversion and properly a tiny bit of coding too, dunno. I'm just coughing up ideas in the moment. I've just always wanted to play a game where you can explore lush wildlife, live a reality life away from my own (no my life isn't in the pits).

Thoughts?

I wont actually do any creating till after Oblivions out and I've finished the game. But at least that leaves me tons of time for planing and stuff. ;)

Definitely. It's slated for a 2006 release, at the moment. What can you do to help? Personally, I have experience with the TESCS with cell creation, quests, dialogue and scripting.

How good are you with scripting?

I'm no JDGBOLT, but I can do the things that you just requested. Such as marriage, children, farming, etc.

Yeah, that's the stuff I'll need. If you're interested to help I can get back in contact with you ferther down the track. For starters I have no idea if this mod will even work.

It will. It's possible even on Morrowind. Want me to get a design document pumped out detailing it over the next few weeks?

I know it's possible for morrowind but by the time the things done oblivion would have come out. I reckon it would be best to do it with Oblivion leaving plenty of time for pre preperations and such plus not keeping our imagination limited. In the moment I'm really just writting ideas down in a notebook. I'm not getting to serious just yet.

I know, I don't want to use Morrowind. What I'm saying is, whatever is possible in Morrowind, is more than possible in Oblivion, because Oblivion uses the same basic engine as Morrowind (GameByro), yet updated to look up to modern standards.

If it's anything as boring as the sims, I will be very saddened :(

Bah, this is a mod. Mature ratings abound!

No, actually in Sims 2 you can fuck... You don't need to go to some hospital or something though..

To make kids you'll properly have to make a new race. Called kids or Brenton (If it's possible to have the same name) if they were Breton kids. Make new meshes and crap that makes them smaller. Then you can just script in more crap for them to do things that kids would do (maybe). Hang around their parent run around playing tag with other kids ect.

In a sense it's a bit like the sims except in the sims it's modern time, not medieval, there are no quests, you have to stay in a small block of land. Just face it, an Oblivion version would rock fifty times more. :)

In this mod im planning new meshes, the place would be on a whole new land at LEAST the same size as Oblivion (again maybe). Need to light a campfire, grab an axe and cut down a tree brunch. A BIG ONE: You have to eat to live. Ever heard of hunger.

I'd write more but I've got to go and have a shower eat breakfast and brush teeth then keep away from the computer for a while to stop getting square eyes. :P

Children are easy. Once they are added into the game world, set their scale to a small value. Each time the player rests the script is checked and their scale value is increased by a small variable.

I've done it on Morrowind, so it'd be possible in Oblivion.

They look quite deformed really when they start off small, because of the proportions. Doesn't just fit. Oblivion though, with its aging mutator, actually actively changes the appearance of the body and head based on the age, so it should works a whole lot better than in Morrowind
