Just out of curiosity, has anyone else taken the plunge and upgraded to a DS Lite? Kind of sad that I only had the regular DS for about a month before upgrading, but the deal at Game Crazy was too good to pass up. |

Only a month? Wow. I saw the lites. They look pretty nice. I might get one eventually, though I don't have a DS yet. I'll just wait for the price to go down a bit. Heh. |

If you do, I'd go with the Lite when you buy one. While I don't have any real hands on experience to speak of yet (It's still charging over there on my couch, depressing the hell out of me), the difference in screen brightness I've seen in video comparisons are incredible. My biggest gripe with the DS was how dim the screen is at times, especially if you are outdoors in the sunlight, where your games become virtually unplayable. With the Lite, that's been fixed like you wouldn't believe. But then, that's more the hype talking than me. I'll get to find out for sure tomorrow. |

Hurrah. Tell me how you like it. Though I'm not sure how often I'd use it (I have a GBA SP, and I only use it like once every 1-2 months to play Advance Wars II, to amuse me while I wait for something.) so I'd be a bad investment for me to make. Any good games out for the DS, anyway? |

Advance Wars: Dual Strike is supposed to be the best one in the series and it is out for the DS. I had it but sold it recently, since I seem to have lost my patience for real time strategy games. Otherwise, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is a freakin' awesome anime-style court room drama \ adventure game, Animal Crossing: Wild World is loads of fun if you are into community-styled games that can never be beaten, and I've heard nothing but good things about New Super Mario Brothers, although I'm still weary of the retro is teh sweet sentiment that surrounds it. Yeah, I heard about that Advance Wars...Is it an RTS or is it Turn-Based? I thought they were all turn based. I mainly go for RTSes, since you don't have to wait for the enemy to make their turn, and you're able to stay more active with them. Starcraft still owns my heart as the best RTS ever. And I heard about Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. It looked interesting, but I only read a short article about it. And then I read one about that doctor game, which I don't know the name of either. It just looked odd, but it and PW:AA looked like they had a similar style... I often get bored of games that can't be beaten, as I like a storyline in many of my games. Retro is teh sweet? Oh, that sounds horrible. But a lot of the older games were better than newer ones...Which sort of sucks, as gaming hasn't been around for that long. It's like the entire world's supply of original storylines has been used up in less than 20 years as games were invented. And it really sucks. Good to see somewhat original games, though. PW:AA looked pretty original, and I might get it if I ever get a DS. |

A Lite is about ten times better. Not only is it smaller and much lighter (without losing screen size), but since it has different brightness levels, you can actually play with it outside without having to worry about not seeing a damn thing. Not to mention, the inside has practically been streamlined to work a lot better, kind of like when the PStwo came out. It's also the same price as the original DS, so if you have a choice, it's an obvious one. I was considering selling my PSP to get a DSlite, because there is a LOT of really good games coming out, like Children of Mana, Final Fantasy III, Castlevania, Point Blank (!!), Star Fox, and Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. The only games coming out for then PSP that are noteworthy are Blade Dancer (from Nippon Ichi, the people behind Disgaea), Tekken: Dark Resurrection (although it's pretty much the same game as Tekken 5), Gitaroo Man Lives!, Guilty Gear Judgement, and Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core. If you noticed, the PSP is definitely about the sequels, which has gotten me bummed out. So, I might just grab the DS, snatch a laptop when I head off to college, and that'll pretty much cover anything the PSP is capable of doing. Might throw my PSP up on ebay. -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

Agreed with Ambershee. But I'll probably get a DSLite and a car-kit and probably play some heavy-duty RPGs like Final Fantasy during road trips. -- Hey, you! Yeah, you reading this! I've had my regular DS for about ayear now, and I'm not just going to replace it with the new model... Unless I can get the black one. It would match my iPod! *squeeee* -- Quote:A. I really respect and look up to ::BigBird he's just great. B. OMGWTFBBQ, MYSIGNIATUREISGONE! |

Yeah, me too. They have three other colors available for the DSlite, but only in Japan. The good thing is, you can buy it at a place like eBay for the same price as the DS here, and you don't have to worry about compatibility issues or language barriers, since all games are region free on the DS and you can change the language in the system itself. So, I might get that Enamaral / Navy Blue DSlite instead of the Polar White. -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

GameCrazy stores in the US will give you $70 dollars on a trade in for the regular DS and $80 if you are a member there. Then it's only about fifty dollars or so, which ain't half bad. You can make even more money if you sell your DS on ebay, where they tend to go for about $100. ambershee wrote:Bah, I'm just now waiting for the regular DSs to drop. Lite is for people who actually like to see the games they are playing. Edited by: JoeX111 |

I didn't want to give mine up, but the difference between paying $50 and paying $129.99 was too much for nostalgia. Take that single month of regular DS ownership! |

I found out I can get $100 for my Sony PSP if I sell it at GameStop. Maybe you guys can help me out if I should sell this line-up at GameStop or go ahead and do it on eBay and try to get twice as much: Sony PSP Value Pack (headphones with remote attachment, 32mb stick, power cord, cloth cover) All this comes with the original box and manuals. Hope I'm not hijacking the thread, but this is about getting the DSlite, so please don't mind. -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

Do eBay. Unless you have a membership at GameStop, they tend not to pay much for used anything. If you have a GameCrazy membership, however, I think you'd get more. *Calls them right now to check* Edit: $90, with no difference either way having a membership card or not. Damn. GameStop for the win. Who'd have thought? Edited by: JoeX111 |

Lol, yeah, and they have a special this week that you get $10 more if you trade in 4 games (or two 360 games). I'm going to take my stuff in tomorrow and see what they offer. I have a membership at Gamestop, so that means I get 10% more. So, if I trade in the PSP, I get, say $100, then trade in GTA LCS, get $16, Lumines for say, $10, and two other games that equal to $20 with the $10 bonus. The 1gig stick might get me about $20-30 more. The Spiderman 2 movie may get me $5. So, with that 10% addition, I'd hopefully get about $190, if I play my cards right. Not bad, considering I paid so much for the system in the first place. -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

I'd try for ebay, seeing as how hot the system is with the mainstream gaming community right now. It'll die off VERY soon, but I'm seeing a rise of it in my school (or was, before the year ended). But if you can get a better deal with gamestop, go for it. -- Quote:A. I really respect and look up to ::BigBird he's just great. B. OMGWTFBBQ, MYSIGNIATUREISGONE! |
