New Project Thread

I had an idea.
This idea was to make an online rpg kinda style game using php.
Example games include Earth 2025 and Utopia. Both of wich i have been playing for the past 3 to 4 years...
The only major differences between those two games and my idea is the theme of the game, and the use of PHP in my idea where as Earth 2025 and Utopia use CGI.

And guess who said they'd assist me?? INtense ofcourse, so yeh in about 3 months time expect this thread to be dug up and posted in with the online release of our game

Well actually it shouldn't take 3 months, but who knows with INtense's busy schedule and my flying around the place...

Unless you use static data expect downtime every week. A database, especially SQL, wont be able to handle alot of people like Utopia or so on. If you had an oracle database it'd be diffrent.

It won't be anywhere near as big as moddb and it's forums, and the Oktagone servers seem to ba able to handle ModDB and its forums fine...

I know scattered VB and shit, but I don't think I could be much help from the engineering end. Just hook me up with an alpha or something and I'll give her a test run

yeh may need you fellas to help test and boost the numbers when it goes public
as for helping in other ways, we may need help in a site design... i'm working on it but i'm not a very arty person when it comes to computers so yeh i'm givin it a go

it should be good... as for what azz0r said mySQL is 10000 times as fast as CGI so i suspect it will be able to run

I just need bigbird to specify exactly how the game will run, what happens etc... like really detailed and i will go about coding it... tis new to me so may take a while but it could be promising / fun.. if you guys think of anything that be interesting to have in it etc.. just give me, though prolly bigbird the ringleader a yell
