Hey there... I'm new to all this modding stuff and I don't have enough experience (none to be accurate) :(

All I have is just the ideas in my head and I need some guys with modding experience to help me start developing it.

You need to put your mod idea on this page in order for people to reply to you.
Just saying "I have an idea, message me" won't bring people to help.

J4men, I believe almost everyone on this forum have ideas that they want to become a mod, and they are learning and working hard on it. You are new and have no experience, but just an idea. Sorry to say, if you only can talk your walk, but cant walk your talk, it means nothing.

How do people know what they need to do if they don't know what you want them to do? Also no one will even bother joining your project if you aren't going to do anything. Learn how to do something that you could contribute to the group, then ask again with a proper design document.

Dont give up J4rmen. I also had the slack-jawed response from this community when I set up the Pacific Thunder mod. In fact, it was the best response I could of gotten. It motivated me to prove them wrong and make a successful mod. I reccomend 3d Moddeling. Its the best way to prove your worth. GMAX is a great start. Then you should move onto Blender, or more proffesionaly Zbrush, Maya or 3ds Max 9(which I reccomend).

1. You're using the term slack-jawed wrong.
2. These forums weren't put up so amateurs and professionals could make games for people who know nothing of game development.

...unless of course your goal was to start a mod and not finish it. (i'm not saying you won't finish, but you appear far from it)

but on topic; i would also recommend learning how to use a free 3d modeling package, i'd go for Blender or XSI modtool

To show you all that I'm serious with this, here's my first model for the first unit in this mod

Okay, here we go

Mod name : Mideast total war

story: the year is 2011... after the US withdrawl from Iraq , Iran finds it as a good chance to take over Iraq and the small -yet rich- GCC countries,by the dawn of december the 1st , hundreds of missiles from Iranian bases were launched at Iraqi and GCC military bases , power stations , and civilian concentrations, wreaking destruction and havoc everywhere they fell..... and before the arabs could restore from their shock, thousands of Iranian revolutionary guards rushed through the border heading for the Iraqi capital of Baghdad.

The newly formed Iraqi army and the small armies of the GCC couldn't hold very long in front of the seemingly endless hordes of the Iranians, the leaders of the GCC find no other solution but to urge Egypt - who owns the largest arab army- to interfer and aid them... shortly after, the egyptian president declared a state of war with iran.... and the Egyptian 3rd army is ordered to move and help the arabs stop the invasion.

Israel decides to take advantage of this chaotic situation to strike the Iranian nuclear program and shut it off once and for all, Israeli F-35 and F-16I jets take off heading for Iran , the strike achieved some of its goals but many Jets were shot down by Iranian air defences... and now Iran and Israel are officially at war.

With those 3 countries going to war with each other, the whole middle east is on flames, who will prevail??

mod overview : It's going to be like MEC but without syria ... the 3 factions will be

Iran : depends mainly on missiles and terrorism tactics to defeat its enemies
Egypt : depends on overwhelming numbers of infantry with artilliry support to defeat its enemies
Israel : depends on Air superiority and High-tech weapons to defeat its enemies

Thats all for now... more will surely come as the mod progresses

well , no one said I won't be doing anything... I will do the modelling (or as much as I can from it ) but I need experienced skinners and coders

The best way to keep your mod alive is to do some code yourself.... Mod with coder as a leader tends to have a higher chance of releasing.

Its worth a try if you really believe in your idea and its a great way to learn things

depends of the engine you're going to use

I've heard great thing about www.google.com maybe you should give it a try someday.... maybe you could search something like c++ tutorial or unreal script tutorial if you want to use the unreal engine.

I'd be willing to help you J4armen but, not strictly working on your mod. I mean that if anyone else wants to join my project I'll work on that alongside you're mod but i'll help you. I'm not so good at coding yet, but I am slowly developing graphical skills. If you could do coding and Ideas all we need are Texturers, Animators, and... someone please chime in if i'm missing a job.

but I thought you said before that you don't have any ideas for your project.look dude, I think it will be much better if we make our project together ... we can help each other and learn from each other.

Coding is very simple for Generals Zero Hour. Use Notebook and also download the Finalbig extractor or something like that if I remember. From there it's pretty much just changing numbers. ZH is the easiest way to learn how to code.

Unit range for example if I remember is measured in feet. A unit with 300 range can fire 300 feet. When you make a unit, just edit the code in notebook and set it to whatever you want. It will be difficult to keep it in proportion to the map though, as the map measures in a different scale quite frankly. :S

Also damage I think is measured in how much HP or whatever you call it is. So a unit with say 100HP or whatever it's called will die in 5 shots from a unit that deals 20 damage.

Like I said very simple.
