New Idea (I hope) Thread

It is the year 3678. The Deutsche Cofederation have come out on top and united Terra under their rule. In addtion they have taken man to the stars, colonizing and terraforming worlds unapposed and without finding other intelligent life. Things were that way untill last year when miners on the planet of Carpathia stumbled into an odd cavern filled with what they took to be large oval stones. Upon closer examination they proved to be shells of enormus eggs, hundreds of years old. This discovery was discarded as a local matter by the centeral goverment on terra, untill farmers on New Hope uncovered more of these strange things in a well they had been in the process of building that were compleatly identical. Four months later after many more planets on the Outer Rim had also found these strange things in caverns, there was an encounter with the race that had presumedly hatched from these eggs. Monsterus creatures, they lokked like they were half lizard half insect. Needless to say the creatures were, as was to be expected, extremely hostile and only one man from the expedition made it away, only to die after telling the grusom tale of their encounter with the beasts. Unfortunatly it was discoverd, much to the dismay if many, that these creatures had the capablity to navigate space. And they did so, destroying many colonies andout posts in the Outer Rim. They were able to evolv into large creatures that propelled themselvs through space by means of their bodily gases. After a few weeks they were finally repulsed in the battle for Fork Ridge on the planet of New Tharkad, the turning point in the battles for the world and location for the counter offensive which repelled the alians that had been dubed Kralliks. I took part in the defence of New Tharkad, and the battle for Fork Ridge. And I do not beleive I will ever forget the day I firstsaw a Krallik. After that deciive battle the goverment on Terra finally got word andimmitiatly began construction of a massive army.

And that's where it (the game) starts. Both Confederation and alian troops triclking in. Pleaase tell me what you think.

Get away from the cliched " aliens born from eggs with super strenght thing" make the aliens small and weak and
smart.

i agree... slow, weak, but very smart.. I mean, the alein colony hatched from eggs IS very highly used... but, hey, its YOUR mod..

Who said that they were strong? I said they were "Monsterus" not large and strong bub, "Monsterus" can mean just ugly, and just because they hatched from eggs doesn't meant that they're animal like. I was picturing them more like barbarian Halo guys (the covenant) with all bio weapons (and vehicles). I suppose that I should have been more specific, so that things like what just happened don't happen. But I never Imagined them as like NS alians or Alian (the movie) alians. But I didn't ever intend for them to be smart, I wanted them to be cool lizard-insect barbarians with bio weapons. I hope this clears things up.

ah.. well, from the story you gave, i got idea of em looking like soemthing from Alien.. Hmm.. may work out pretty well.. sounds good enough, although i agree, why DO that have to be stupid?

and btw, please dont make em colony based or something..

The alians are not colony based, the Deutsche Cinfederation are, and that (colony) is what you call any thing not connected to you're home land (Terra). And why they are stupid is because they are a relitivly new specese, only 1000 years old in comparison to humanity's (in the game) about 5000 years. This is (in the present) the second milinium, but that's just recorded history. The Kralliks Maneged too go to other worlds only because their gene pool is highly active, alwas evolving, although recently they have hit a dead end. And why they wanted to go to other worlds was because their own receorces were depleated, thus the need to migrate took hold of them and they left their planet in search of foodstuffs.

seems to be based an awful lot upon common ideas (big aliens leave home planet and go arse kicking)

Why can't they be peaceful and the humans cock up and shoot first, or maybe it's all a conspiracy (remember nihilanth at the end of HL, listen to what he says).

Acyually it ws the humans who started it, remember? They were colonizing one of their planets so the alians fought back and launched an offensive campaign. And their not very big- how many times do I have to say that? They are barbarians, but not big. They average (the main type anyway) 5ft 2 to 6ft tall, and are for the most part humanoid. A few clases are on all fours. The Kralliks are dumb, but dumb the way cave men (best example I could come up with) are dumb, not animals. Man I guess I should have been more specific to start with eh?

why must they be stupid though? you have to be smart to be able to build interstellar vessels, dont you?

Didn't you reaad what was said earlyer? Their vessil is a living creature! One line oftheir speces evolved into large beasts that are space worthy! Althogh I'm not set in this idea, I just thought bio-weaponswould be cool, like for instance their arm anding in a bio-gun that shoots out acid!

the whole thing just sounds overly cliched to me...

well, the more you describe it, the better it seems to sound.. Perhaps this can come out pretty good.. Remember, sometimes a cliche idea is a decent one..

sometimes yes... and sometimes all a cliche does is copy other mods...

try to not describe things in your mod by saying they are like other games, that doesnt help at all. instead just describe them as the pertain to your mod

When did I use another mod? I said it wasn't like another mod, remeber? Not like NS not. I oppologize for having to be so rude, but it seemed necisary to get my point accross. I took the liberty of making some art of what the Deutsche Confederation guys would look like. Not very good I know, but at least it'l give you an idea of what they look llike.

Okay, fine so I slipped up once, you've got me. And as for the Confederation it's because it is a Confederation of Germanic countries (eg. Prussia, Swabia, Austria etc etc). The goverment is not a repulic, or demacricy of any sort. It is a Confederation of Monarchys. It is assumed that as the years go by the great leaders woud want their lagacy to carry on to their childeren, and, having united the world it seems a good idea, keeping the goverment in the capable hands of their relitivs.

Well, looks pretty good tho, however id imagine by this year humans would have a slightly more advanced setup... Also, i dont think too much would be a big challenge either... I mean, at the rate of advancement, i think we would be capable of blowing away some flying barbarian thingies..

Oh, and btw.. something you mentioned i found to sound slightly flawed.. You said these aliens' gene pool was very active and they evolved quickly into what they are... But the thing is, WHY?? things evolve out of need or for some purpose of some kind... What was the purpose of these new things to evolve into stupid flying space dudes?

Ahh I though no one would ask. In answer to you're first qustion about the technoledgy after the Deutsche Confederation united earth there was a bit of rebuilding to do. They didn't exactly unit it with every one elses... support. That not only post poned tech research for a god four or five decades, but put them back some too. As for the barbarian thing the reason for them being so hard to defeat is summerized in two answers 1: They breed about twenty times faster than rabbits and 2: once hit with the weapon you have to shed your armour immidiatly or you die, on account of the acidick nature of it. As for the exelerated rate of evolving here is the explanation. The planet the Kralliks origanated from was very... hostile and to servive much less dominate such a world you had to have an edge. Thus their edge was constantly evolving to any threat within two or three generations. When their food sorce started to be notecibly declining they started evolving to find new sorces, first water, than air. Eventually the one way they hadn't evolved was to breath really high in the air after abut a year they had a "Navy" ofspace worthy creatures, still keeping their less specialized resorcefull humanoid shape so they can evolve from their. I hope that explanes things for you.

hmmm.... one problem is tho this space travel thing.. I mean, do they just hold their breath or something?? And what about the no atmospheric pressure?? I see no reason at all for em to evolve a tolerance of that..
