I have a new game that is coming out and I need to know if I'm allowed to put a price on it, only like 1.99, but am I allowed to do that? do I have to pay royalties? is it bad if it has a lot of refrences to other games?(the game makes fun of horror games so I had to include stuff like slender and fnaf)

Yes, you can put a price tag on it but only if your game is 100% original, both graphics, code- and idea-wise (design-wise).

If it only references other games like Slender or FNAF there should be no problem either - there would be tons of issues however if you decided to use any content/logos/names explicitly / ripped off those games. That is disallowed then, and normally should be shunned at all times even for noncommercial fangames (based on Slender/FNAF).

Thank you for your reply, I don't know if using some of the default unity assets count as using content that doesn't belong to me but I made sure to design everything myself, also at the end you said normally should be shunned, I don't know if your saying I should be but I just wanted to let you know it isn't really much of a fan game, it is making fun of them and all the fangames along with it, but idk if you meant I should be shunned.

You may use Unity assets for a Unity game.

You just cannot use other FNAF/Slender game assets (their models, textures, graphics etc), or e.g. Unity assets for an Unreal game. Taking other people's own made content without their permission should be shunned (including their names - for example a Halo fangame cannot have "Halo" in its game name/title).

You can make parodies. ;-) Your own assets/code/design and official Unity assets/code can be used for a Unity game. And you can also sell your game. As long as you do not earn more than $100,000 from your game (or your parents managing the sales do not earn that much) - if you do, then you have to purchase Unity Pro licence to continue selling it, here is FAQ Unity3d.com

thank you I thought you meant that it was shameful to post a fan game or any kind of game that is based on another game thank you for your help with licences. Also if your wondering the demo for the game should be posted sometime in september on my website and here, here is the link: Techdiffdevteam.wix.com (sorry for the self advertisement but I am a starting game designer and I need as much support as I can get!)
