Need help recovering Thread

Okay, so i just got myself into a situation... I was busy building me a new PC, was meant to be my lil storage and proxy server/ firewall, and while i was tryna format one of my HDD to install my OS, i by accidentally formatted the wrong HDD and lost everything thats pretty much meaningfull to me... Games, music, movies, documents, content, software... everything =('
Right so anyhow, since i lost my software which had recovery tools which ive never used since ive never had this issue before, so i dont even know what software it was, now im was just wondering if anyone has any recomendations on what tools to use?
