After some searching, I have been unable to find a good step-by-step tutorial for changing the doom guy’s face. When it comes to modding Doom, I am a total noob. I have made custom art in flash that I would like to use (higher res if possible). This seems like the best place to ask for help. Any links or advice regarding that would be much appreciated! |

All you would need to do is put the new assets in a new wad (or pk3 with a newer engine) in the same folder structure & file name setup as the original. This will open the .wad's so you can look inside them: Softpedia.com Looks like there's ~80 or so images for the doom guy's face. -- Go play some Quake 2: q2server.fuzzylogicinc.com |

Greetings, I have been trying to use Slade, as it was recommended on another forum. I was able to locate the doom guy’s faces in the doom2.wad. I’m not sure where you get 80 faces from? I only counted 42. So you're saying just make a pk3 file and throw it in the game folder and that will override the original faces? Will that work with anything? For example, if I want to change the Brutal Doom faces? Guess I can leave the wad alone then. I could use help with the setup for a pk3 file. Also, can my new faces be a larger size or must they be the exact size as the file I'm replacing? They're a bit detailed. I’m very tempted to make a tutorial video on how to do this when I’m done. Surprised there isn’t one. |
